AMD is in constant progress with its Radeon graphics card lineup and the company is always working on new models that will better suit the market. Today, we have interesting discovery. On Weibo, a Chinese microblogging website, a user has posted pictures of what appears to be an engineering sample of AMD's Radeon RX 6900 XTX graphics card variant. Having an all-in-one (AIO) water-cooled design with a 120 mm radiator, the card resembles a power-hungry design as we have seen with Radeon R9 Fury X and RX Vega 64 Liquid Edition, which were both graphics cards equipped with AIO water cooling. This engineering sample is no different.

Under the waterblock, there is a Navi 21 XTXH GPU SKU hidden. As we found out, this is a new Navi 21 XTX SKU that just features better binning compared to Navi 21 XTX, and thus it offers better overclocking potential. It is already present in three new models from various AIBs, like the PowerColor RX 6900 XT Liquid Devil Ultimate, ASRock RX 6900 XT OC Formula, and Sapphire RX 6900 XT Toxic Extreme graphics cards. It seems like AMD has prepared itself to launch this specific SKU in a reference design form, however, so far only AIBs have used the Navi 21 XTXH SKU. It is not yet clear if the Radeon RX 6900 XTX is ever going to hit the retail market, or it shall remain as it is - just an engineering sample.

CPU-Z, the CPU monitoring tool used to gather information about the processor your system is running on, has been updated with version 1.96. This new update doesn't change the software much but rather brings support for new hardware. Starting from this revision, Intel's upcoming Alder Lake CPUs have received preliminary support in the tool. To go along with CPUs, the software is now also enabled to recognize Intel's Z6xx motherboards that pair with Alder Lake processors. Alongside that, the software now also brings support for next-generation DDR5 memory, which is supposed to feature speeds anywhere from 4800 to 8400 MT/s. PowerColor quietly launched the Radeon RX 6900 XT Red Devil Ultimate graphics card. Not to be confused with the RX 6900 XT Red Devil Limited Edition, which is essentially an RX 6900 XT Red Devil with a few more accessories in the box; the new Red Devil Ultimate ships with higher factory-overclocked speeds. The default "OC" BIOS runs the card at 2235 MHz game clocks and 2425 MHz max boost frequency; compared to 2105 MHz game and 2340 MHz max boost frequency on the standard RX 6900 XT Red Devil. The silent BIOS of the Red Devil Ultimate runs it at 2135/2335 MHz, which is the same as the "OC" BIOS on the standard Red Devil.

HotHardware, which reviewed the card, reports that the Radeon RX 6900 XT Red Devil Ultimate is based on a higher bin of the "Navi 21" silicon. Our own sources tell us that this card is part of a new wave of RX 6900 XT custom-design graphics cards that AMD partners will be launching in the coming days, based on higher bins of the silicon, enabling both higher clocks on the tin, and better boost frequency sustainability.

Update 17:26 UTC: The Red Devil Ultimate is based on AMD's new Navi 21 XTXH GPU, which has the device ID 0x73AF, whereas all existing Navi 21 variants are 0x73BF. There's claims that XTXH is a special bin with better OC potential, lower leakage, etc. Whether that is true is unknown at this time, it's also unknown whether these cards come with truly increased OC adjustment limits in Wattman, or whether a special BIOS/driver is necessary. Next GPU-Z release will add proper detection for Navi 21 XTXH.

Bitspower today unveiled its top full-coverage water-block that's compatible with the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT, RX 6800 XT and RX 6800 "Big Navi" reference graphics cards; the Premium Mobius BPPRE-VG6900XTID. This 2-slot thick block uses nickel-plated copper as its primary material, combining it with a top that's essentially clear acrylic, but with an aluminium alloy cladding that resembles the styling of the reference cooling solution. The coolant never makes contact with the cladding. The acrylic top is studded with addressable-RGB LEDs, which take in a standard 3-pin ARGB connection. A matching back-plate made of anodized aluminium comes included with the block. The block comes with four G1/4" threads. Available now, the Premium Mobius BPPRE-VG6900XTID is priced at USD $320.

ASRock has announced a new graphics card that's entering its RX 6900 XT lineup, AMd's current GPU technology pinnacle in the consumer space. The new ASRock Radeon RX 6900 XT OCF is apparently ASRock's new top-tier offering, joining the Phantom Gaming and reference designs for this particular AMD SKU. Like most custom RX 6900 XT graphics cards, ASRock has fitted the RX 6900 XT OCF with a triple-fan, triple-slot cooler and heatsink assemblage, as well as with three 8-pin connectors to ensure the card is always fed enough power towards its top-of-the-line performance. The card further features a new, relatively colorful design for ASRock, as well as RGB bling for your visual pleasure (in sexy showcase pictures, because we know you won't find these out in the wild).

During the development of the Eisblock Aurora RADEON RX 6800/6900/XT graphic card GPU block, we wanted to further increase the performance. The first step was to move the cooler closer to the individual components by reducing the thermal pads to a thickness of 1 mm. Next, we reduced the thickness of the nickel-plated copper block. Instead of 7 mm, it is now only 5.5 mm thick. The water flow inside the cooler has also been optimized. All important components such as the voltage transformers and the memory are now significantly better and more effectively cooled by the water. All this ensures a significant increase in cooling performance.

Capcom, the Japanese video game maker, has today announced specification requirements for its upcoming Resident Evil Village PC game, needed to play the game at certain resolutions/graphics presets. Starting with the minimum settings, Capcom is thinking of 1080p 60 FPS gaming. To achieve that you need at least an Intel Core i5-7500 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 processor paired with 8 GB of RAM. The minimum specification also requires a DirectX 12 capable GPU, with 4 GB of VRAM, just like NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 560. The company notes that using this configuration, framerate may drop below 60 FPS during heavy loads. If you want to use raytracing, which is now also present in the game engine, you must switch to at least NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT.

The recommended specification of course requires much beefier hardware compared to the minimum specification. If you want to have a steady 1080p 60 FPS experience without frame drops, Capcom recommends an Intel Core i7 8700 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor, paired with 16 GB of RAM, and a GPU like an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon RX 5700. However, if you want the raytracing feature you need a better GPU. To achieve a 4K resolution with 60 FPS and raytracing turned on, the GPU needs a bump to at least an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 or AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics card. Hot on the heels of NVIDIA's recent Cryptocurrency Mining Processors (CMP) launch and slightly debacled driver-level neutering of popular mining algorithms with their latest GeForce RTX 3060, AMD product manager Nish Neelalojanan confirmed to PC Gamer that AMD's stance is a fundamentally different one: that they won't be the ones to decide what their customers can or can't do with their hardware. His words, precisely, were this: "We will not be blocking any workload, not just mining for that matter."

Nish then went on to speak on how AMD - and its current RDNA2 product stack - have been specifically geared and optimized for gaming workloads. There are some architectural choices present in RDNA2 that automatically reduce its utility and performance when it comes to mining, such as its infinity Cache - an architectural choice that aims to increase gaming performance by improving cache hits, at the expense of overall memory bandwidth (the most important metric for actual mining operations).

Lenovo and AMD seem to be developing an exclusive partnership with client/workstation products. Following exclusivity for Lenovo to sell workstations powered by the Ryzen Threadripper PRO processors, the two appear to be collaborating on graphics cards. Pictures surfaced on Chinese social media of the new Lenovo Radeon RX 6800 XT and RX 6900 XT LEGION Edition graphics cards. At this point it's unclear whether Lenovo designed these cards, or if the designers of AMD's reference MBA (made by AMD) graphics cards lent a hand.

Looking at the red-illuminated "R" cornerstone design element, the possibility of the card being designed and made by the same OEM as reference-design MBA cards, cannot be ruled out. Use of the "R" cornerstone dates back to the Radeon RX Vega series. The typeface of the "R" has since been updated to match with the latest Radeon logo. Elsewhere across the card, we see a large "Radeon RX 6x00 XT" logo along the top of the card, which is RGB illuminated. The butch triple-slot card appears to be slightly larger than the RX 6800 XT / RX 6900 XT reference-design, pulling power from a pair of 8-pin PCIe power connectors. At this point we don't know if this card is China-exclusive, and exactly how it's marketed, whether it's sold standalone like any AIB retail card, or whether it's pre-installed on LEGION PCs, such as the 2021 LEGION 7000P desktops.

AMD today released the latest version of Radeon Software Adrenalin drivers. Version 21.2.3 beta adds optimization for "DIRT 5 Energy Content Pack." Among the handful of issued fixed with these drivers include HDMI audio device (such as home-theater receivers) failing to install on Radeon RX 400 series and RX 500 series "Polaris" graphics cards; hot-plugging TVs and displays in multi-monitor configurations causing a system hang; "Substance Painter" experiencing a crash with Radeon RX 6000 series; HP Reverb G2 VR HMD causing a system crash when plugging into RX 6900 XT, and the Radeon Software application sometimes failing to look up the latest version of the software. Here are some of the first marketing pictures of the PowerColor Radeon RX 6900 XT Liquid Devil, the company's flagship graphics card targeted at PC enthusiasts with DIY liquid-cooling setups. The company had teased this card in mid-January, but is yet to formally launch it. The card combines a juiced up variant of the RX 6900 XT Red Devil PCB with a full-coverage water-block supplied by EK Water Blocks. This block is derived from EK's QuantumVector RX 6000 family, and features nickel-plated copper as its main material, paired with an acrylic top that's studded with addressable-RGB LEDs. The card is expected to come with slightly higher clock speeds than the air-cooled Red Devil Limited Edition. The package also includes a PowerColor-exclusive set of coolant dyes.

Sapphire on Thursday (Feb 18) formally launched its flagship graphics card, the TOXIC Radeon RX 6900 XT Limited Edition. This liquid-cooled graphics card features an all-in-one, closed-loop cooling solution that pulls heat from the GPU and memory, while a fan-heatsink cools the VRM and provides some additional air-cooling to the card. The liquid cooler uses a large 360 mm x 120 mm radiator. ARGB illumination covers everything from the radiator fans, to the on-card fan, and the cooler shroud.

The TOXIC Radeon RX 6900 XT Limited Edition features Sapphire's highest factory-overclock for the RX 6900 XT, with engine boost clocks stated to be "beyond" 2365 MHz (vs. 2250 MHz reference). The memory is untouched at 16 Gbps (GDDR6-effective). The card pulls power from a combination of two 8-pin and one 6-pin PCIe power connectors. Display outputs include three DisplayPort 1.4a and an HDMI 2.1. Sapphire is officially pricing the TOXIC Radeon RX 6900 XT Limited Edition at USD $1,499, a 50% premium over the reference design, but you can bet that the real-world pricing could be north of $2,000.

Here are some of the first pictures of the Sapphire Radeon RX 6900 XT TOXIC, the company's [hopefully] flagship RX 6900 XT product, until it decides to revive even the "Atomic" brand. This features a hybrid liquid+air cooling solution not unlike the ASUS ROG STRIX RX 6900 XT LC. An all-in-one, closed-loop, liquid cooler pulls heat from the GPU and memory, while a fan-heatsink with a noise-optimized fan handles ancillaries such as the VRM.

The AIO CLC part of the card is characterized by a large 360 mm x 120 mm radiator, with a trio of ARGB illuminated 120 mm fans included. Nylon-sleeved tubing connects it to the card. On the card's side, we see ARGB embellishments along the 100 mm fan, and the cooler shroud. The card draws power from a trio of power connectors, and VideoCardz reports that this could be a combination of two 8-pin and one 6-pin. We can also spot a dual-BIOS switch. The clock speeds of the card are still unknown, we expect it to be higher than the air-cooled NITRO+ cards.

Update 21:26 UTC: The card is now listed at Newegg for $1640, with an availability date of Feb 17th.

If anyone was looking to buy a new GPU in the past few months, the person is likely familiar with the situation we are in. It is now a fact that the latest generation of GPUs from AMD and NVIDIA are extremely hard to find, and when you come across one it is listed at some mind-blowing price. However, the makers of those GPUs, AMD and NVIDIA, are claiming that we are near the end of this situation and the things are going to be better shortly. And companies such as these two must reach out to consumers and try to satisfy their needs, even in the difficult situation that is going on now with the GPUs.

In the interview with The Verge, AMD has confirmed that it will be selling more Radeon RX 6800, Radeon RX 6800 XT, and Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics cards using its website, throughout Q1 of this year. The company claims that it will try to supply as many customers as possible, without any exact figures. When it comes to NVIDIA, the company has commented that the situation will likely resolve sometime at the end of Q1, meaning that in March things should return to normal. The company has also added that in the meantime consumers shouldn't expect to buy any of the GeForce RTX 3000 series graphics cards at their original MSRP. NVIDIA also continues emphasizing that the reason for such high prices is the high demand they are seeing, exceeding production capacity by far.

Alienware, the gaming division of Dell Technologies, has today announced a lineup refresh, meaning that all of the existing products will get upgraded to versions with the latest hardware. And to start off, the company has equipped their thin and powerful Alienware m15 R4 and m17 R4 laptops with the latest hardware we saw announced just yesterday. The laptops are equipped with 12-phase voltage regulation modules to power the newest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3000 series of mobile GPUs. To pair with a strong GPU, Alienware decided to use 10th generation Intel Comet Lake-H designs. These new laptops can be equipped with up to 4 TB of PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSD storage and up to 32 GB of 2933 MHz RAM. For display, options range from FHD LCD to a 4K OLED panel and 360 Hz refresh rate for the m17 R4 model.

PowerColor Tuesday teased its upcoming Radeon RX 6800 XT and RX 6900 XT Liquid Devil series graphics cards. These cards are targeted at those with DIY liquid cooling setups, and come with factory-fitted full-coverage water blocks. The blocks are custom-made for PowerColor by EK Water Blocks. It's likely that PowerColor is reusing the PCBs from its Red Devil line of flagship air-cooled cards. The blocks feature nickel-plated copper as their primary material, with clear acrylic tops that are studded with addressable RGB LEDs that plug into the PCB's LED header.

AMD has recently launched its Radeon "Big Navi" 6000 series of graphics cards, making entry to the high-end market and positioning itself well against the competition. The "Big Navi" graphics cards are based on Navi 21 XL (Radeon RX 6800), Navi 21 XT (Radeon RX 6800 XT), and Navi 21 XTX (Radeon RX 6900 XT) GPU revision, each of which features a different number of Shaders/TMUs/ROPs. The highest-end Navi 21 XTX is the highest performance revision featuring 80 Compute Units with 5120 cores. However, it seems like AMD is preparing another similar silicon called Navi 21 XTXH. Currently, it is unknown what the additional "H" means. It could indicate an upgraded version with more CUs, or perhaps a bit cut down configuration. It is unclear where such a GPU would fit in the lineup or is it just an engineering sample that is never making it to the market. It could represent a potential response from AMD to NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics card, however, that is just speculation. Other options suggest that such a GPU would be a part of mainstream notebook lineup, just like Renoir comes in the "H" variant. We have to wait and see what AMD does to find out more.

GIGABYTE Monday released its first custom-design AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics card, the Gaming OC (model: GV-R69XTGAMING OC-16GD). As of this writing, the company hasn't yet announced RX 6900 XT based cards under its coveted AORUS Gaming series. The RX 6900 XT Gaming OC features a mostly similar board design to the RX 6800 XT Gaming OC, with a large triple-slot cooling solution, and a custom-design PCB. The cooler features three aluminium fin-stacks skewered by six 6 mm-thick copper heat pipes that make contact with the GPU and memory through a copper base-plate, while secondary base-plates pull heat from the VRM.

What sets the RX 6900 XT Gaming OC board design apart from its RX 6800 XT-based sibling, is a slightly bolstered VRM setup that pulls power from three 8-pin PCIe power connectors, as opposed to two on the RX 6800 XT Gaming OC. As a factory-overclocked card, the RX 6900 XT Gaming OC offers Boost frequencies of up to 2285 MHz (compared to 2250 MHz reference), and an increased power-limit. The card features dual-BIOS, and the default "OC" BIOS features these clock-speeds, while the "Silent" BIOS possibly trades off some power-limit for an aggressive fan-curve. Display outputs include two each of HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4a connectors, there's no USB-C. The company didn't reveal pricing.

XFX has recently announced the RX 6900 XT Speedster MERC 319 featuring a triple-fan and slot design. The GPU comes with dual 8-pin power connectors, which is less than the three found on other versions but will still require a minimum 850 W power supply. The RX 6900 XT Speedster MERC 319 features a 90 MHz boost to Game and Boost clocks. The card also features a BIOS switch for dual-BIOS operations however the specifications of this second BIOS were not disclosed by XFX. The design is extremely similar to the XFX RX 6800 XT Speedster MERC 319 apart from the addition of a USB-C port for VR.
