In a bid to capture market share in the crucial Chinese Lunar New Year shopping season across the Greater China region, Sapphire launched a new graphics card occupying a price-point most tempting to value-conscious buyers, the Radeon HD 7770 Vapor-X Black Diamond. Simply put, it's a Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition card with an advanced vapor-chamber-based cooler strapped on to it, with some groovy black styling dropped in; all of which shouldn't cost Sapphire much, but ups product presentation greatly. It is a slight variation of the Vapor-X OC found in western markets.

The Sapphire HD 7770 Vapor-X Black Diamond uses a Vapor-X cooler which uses a vapor-chamber plate and two 8 mm-thick copper heat pipes to draw heat from the GPU, and conduct it to a dense aluminum fin stack, which is ventilated by a pair of 80 mm spinners. Underneath it is a custom-design PCB that's dressed in black, and uses Sapphire's noise-free chokes. The card sticks to AMD reference clock speeds of 1000 MHz core and 1250 MHz (5.00 GHz GDDR5-effective) memory. It packs 1 GB of GDDR5 memory across a 128-bit wide memory interface. Power is drawn from a single 6-pin PCIe connector. Display outputs include two DVI, and one each of DisplayPort and HDMI.

Gigabyte quietly slipped in a revision of its Radeon HD 7770 OC graphics card (model: GV-R777OC-1GD Rev 2). The revision, while otherwise identical to the original, features lower factory overclock speeds. While the original features 1100 MHz core with 1250 MHz (5.00 GHz GDDR5-effective) memory, the revision ships with 1050 MHz core, and 1125 MHz (4.50 GHz GDDR5-effective) memory. Based on a custom-design Ultra Durable 2 PCB, with a custom-design cooling solution that uses a quiet 100 mm fan, Gigabyte's Radeon HD 7770 OC retails for US $129.99.

Although not across the board, retailers are reportedly fine-tuning prices of Radeon HD 7850 and HD 7770, in anticipation of NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce GTX 650 Ti. Prices of the two SKUs could be re-adjusted to match or beat the price-performance ratio of GTX 650 Ti. According to a report, prices of Radeon HD 7850 1 GB could go down to US $159, Radeon HD 7850 2 GB to $189, and Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition to $119. It's quite possible that the launch price of GeForce GTX 650 Ti could be in the range of $139 to $149.

German PC maker SilentMaxx achieved the unthinkable: a completely silent desktop PC driven by Intel's Watt-guzzling Core Sandy Bridge-E processors, including the six-core i7-3960X. The Fanless I-850 from SilentMaxx starts at 1,280€, and the base-model is powered by Core i7-3820. With the most critical component "silenced" thanks to its in-house TwinMax CPU cooler, the company loaded the rest of the rig with other silent components, such as silent PSUs, graphics cards, and of course, SSDs.

Although the Fanless I-850 ships with a passive-cooled Radeon HD 7770 graphics card, it can be configured to ship with a passive-cooled Radeon HD 7970, too. Other high-end options include multiple SSDs in RAID configurations, and up to 64 GB of quad-channel DDR3-1600 MHz memory.

In February, Sapphire launched its HD 7750 Ultimate fan-less, silent graphics card. At Computex, the AMD Radeon major unveiled the model of this kind, based on the faster Radeon HD 7770 GPU. Called the Sapphire HD 7770 Ultimate, the card relies on a much larger aluminum fin heatsink than the one featured on the HD 7750 Ultimate, to cool the GPU. The heatsink makes the card about as long as an HD 7900 series model, although its PCB isn't as long. The card features a red-colored AMD reference design PCB, and a cooling solution that's just cosmetically different from AMD reference design (red and black colors inverted). The card packs 1 GB of GDDR5 memory across a 128-bit wide memory interface. Based on the 28 nm "Cape Verde" silicon, the Radeon HD 7770 packs 640 Graphics CoreNext stream processors.

Zalman entered the graphics card business in late 2011, by introducing its first products in the category, all of which are based on AMD Radeon GPUs. At Computex 2012, the Korean PC enthusiast components maker plans to launch its first GeForce graphics cards, along with a few new performance-thru-mainstream Radeon HD 7000 series parts. Among the GeForce parts launched Computex, are an NVIDIA reference design GeForce GTX 670 model, and custom-design GeForce GTX 550 Ti and GeForce GTX 560 Ti graphics cards. These parts appear to be using custom PCB designs, and Zalman's very own Z-Machine GV1000 GPU cooling solutions.

Among the new Radeon HD 7000 series graphics cards slated for Computex, are the already-unveiled VF3000-cooled HD 7950, a VF3000-cooled Radeon HD 7870, a GV1000-cooled Radeon HD 7850, a VF1000-cooled Radeon HD 7770, and a VF900-cooled Radeon HD 7750. All five Radeon parts use custom PCB designs that are colored Zalman's signature shade of blue.

AMD reportedly finalized the adjusted prices. The price cuts were first reported in a little earlier this month. The price of Radeon HD 7970 was slashed by as much as US $70, sending it down to $479, $20 behind that of the GeForce GTX 680. That of the Radeon HD 7950 was cut by $50, which will send its price down to $399. Lastly, the price of Radeon HD 7770 went down by $20, it is priced at $139. Although not formally part of these price cuts, the Radeon HD 7870 is now available for as low as $330.

Despite losing its competitive edge to NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 680, for various reasons AMD was rather slow in adjusting prices of its Radeon HD 7900 series SKUs, the HD 7970 and HD 7950. We are now learning that AMD is preparing the first round of price cuts for its flagship graphics card lineup, since the advent of NVIDIA's Kepler architecture. A Kitguru report pits price cuts of Radeon HD 7970 as much as by US $60 (from $549 to "as low as" $489). The price of HD 7950, on the other hand, is expected to go down by as much as US $55 (that's from $449 to $394). There's also a small price cut in store for Radeon HD 7770, which according to the report, could go down by $15.

AMD today reached a major milestone in the graphics industry with worldwide availability of its full line of next generation AMD Radeon HD 7000 Series GPUs in less than three months. Starting in December, AMD launched the AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series, followed in February by the AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series and completed today with availability of the AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series graphics cards.

The HD 7700 packs 640 GCN stream processors, and feactures clock speeds of 1000 MHz core, and 1125 MHz (4.50 GHz GDDR5 effective) memory; while the HD 7750 packs 512 stream processors, with clock speeds of 800 MHz core and 1125 MHz (4.50 GHz GDDR5 effective) memory.

ASUS launched its Radeon HD 7700 series with two cards, both non-reference design, which take advantage of proven cooler designs ASUS used in previously-launched models. The Radeon HD 7770 card is based on its DirectCU cooler that has been used on a number of upper-mid range graphics cards. Its cooler consists of a heat-pipe fed aluminum fin array, in which the heat-pipes make direct contact with the GPU die. This card bears slightly overclocked speeds, with the core clocked at 1020 MHz (vs. 1000 MHz reference), and 1150 MHz / 4.60 GHz memory (vs. 1125 / 4.50 GHz reference) memory.

The Radeon HD 7750 card from ASUS uses a non-reference PCB and a cooler design which has been implemented on several mid-range graphics cards by the company in the past it is a fan-heatsink with spirally-projecting aluminum fins, with a copper core at the center. The heatsink is ventilated by a large fan, which is known to be very quiet. Like its bigger brother, this card too features slightly overclocked speeds, with the core clocked at 820 MHz (vs. 800 MHz reference), and 1150 MHz / 4.60 GHz memory (vs. 1125 / 4.50 GHz reference) memory. Expect these cards to stick to common prices of US $159 for the HD 7770 and $109 for the HD 7750.
