In a bid to ward off the GeForce GTX 750 threat, AMD is working on a new Radeon R7 series GPU, the R7 265. The SKU, interestingly, isn't based on the "Bonaire" silicon as the R7 260X, and is instead based on a cut down "Curacao" silicon, the same chip on which the R9 270 and R9 270X are based. While the R9 270 series chips share a common core configuration with 1,280 stream processors each, the R7 265 will feature one that's similar to that of the Radeon HD 7850 from the previous generation, which means 1,024 stream processors, 64 TMUs, 32 ROPs, and a 256-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface. Its core clock speed is expected to be around 900 MHz, and memory at 4.80 GHz (GDDR5-effective), which works out to a memory bandwidth of 153.6 GB/s. AMD could target the US $149 to $159 price range with the Radeon R7 265.

It packs 1024 stream processors, 64 TMUs, 32 ROPs, and a 256-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, holding 2 GB of memory. Sadly, even for buyers in this part of the world, Triplex' card will be sold only in the OEM channel.

With GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost stepping up the heat, AMD partners are beginning to roll out newer Radeon HD 7850 graphics cards. HIS announced a pair of Radeon HD 7850 2GB graphics cards, featuring custom PCB and cooler designs, named HD 7850 IceQ X² and HD 7850 IceQ X² Turbo. The HD IceQ X² features AMD reference clock speeds of 860 MHz core, and 4.80 GHz memory; while the HD IceQ X² Turbo features a factory-overclocked GPU, running at 1000 MHz. Both cards feature 2 GB of memory

Both cards feature a compacted IceQ X² dual-fan cooler by HIS. The cooler uses a copper heat-pipe fed aluminum fin stack, which is ventilated by a pair of 75 mm fans. HIS claims the cooler runs at 28 dB when idling, and keeps the GPU cooler than AMD's reference design cooler. The PCB features an 8-phase VRM, which the company claims, can supply 66 percent more current than AMD's reference design PCB VRM. Pricing varies by region, but we expect the cards to be competitively priced around the GTX 650 Ti.

ASUS readied its second "Dragon" branded performance graphics card, the first being last year's Radeon HD 7850 Dragon. These cards are typically a notch above DirectCU II OC models, in featuring a backplate, and slightly improved VRM.

The company's new GeForce GTX 660 Ti Dragon, pictured below, features out of the box clock speeds of up to 1150 MHz core, and 6.10 GHz memory. It features 2 GB of GDDR5 memory across a 192-bit wide memory interface. The card's cooling assembly is nearly identical to the company's DirectCU II, with the exception of blue accents, and a back-plate. From the looks of it, the card could feature a GPU electrical noise filter, similar in function to MSI GPU Reactor module. ASUS tells us that the card is specific to the Greater China region, it's unlikely to make it to western markets.

Here are the first pictures of an MSI-branded GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost graphics card. The card features MSI's Gaming Series branding, a custom board design with Twin Frozr III cooling solution, and what could be a non-reference design PCB. As details emerge, the GTX 650 Ti Boost is turning out to be more of a competitor for AMD's Radeon HD 7850 than its recently launched HD 7790. Based on the 28 nm GK106 silicon, it reportedly features 768 CUDA cores, a 192-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface holding 2 GB of memory (memory size printed on MSI's box), GPU Boost, core clock speeds in the neighborhood of 1030 MHz; and 6.00 GHz memory (144 GB/s). It is expected to come out a little later this month.

Here are the first pictures of Sapphire Radeon HD 7790 Dual-X, the company's premium offering based on AMD's new GPU. The card features Sapphire's in-house PCB and cooler designs, including an aluminium fin-stack heatsink ventilated by a pair of 80 mm fans, and a 21.5 cm long PCB. The card draws power from a single 6-pin PCIe power connector, its display outputs are similar to the HD 7850, with a pair of DVI connectors, HDMI, and DisplayPort. It seems that one memory-light Radeon HD 7850 isn't enough for Gigabyte because the Taiwanese company is currently preparing a second such card, the GV-R785WF2-1GD. Seen below, this latest Pitcairn-powered offering features an Ultra Durable 2 design (Low RDS(on) MOSFET, Ferrite Core Choke, All-Solid Capacitors), a blue PCB, a WindForce2X (two fans, two copper heatpipes) cooler, a GPU clock of 860 MHz, a 256-bit memory interface, 1 GB of GDDR5 VRAM set to 4800 MHz, and DVI, HDMI plus dual mini DisplayPort outputs.

The GV-R785WF2-1GD hasn't been priced or dated yet.

Although not across the board, retailers are reportedly fine-tuning prices of Radeon HD 7850 and HD 7770, in anticipation of NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce GTX 650 Ti. Prices of the two SKUs could be re-adjusted to match or beat the price-performance ratio of GTX 650 Ti. According to a report, prices of Radeon HD 7850 1 GB could go down to US $159, Radeon HD 7850 2 GB to $189, and Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition to $119. It's quite possible that the launch price of GeForce GTX 650 Ti could be in the range of $139 to $149.

With NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 660 and GTX 650 threatening to make things messy in the sub-$250 market, and competitive pricing between NVIDIA partners with high-end SKUs, AMD is preparing yet another round of price cuts to its Radeon HD 7000 GPU series. Its last round followed the launch of GeForce GTX 660 Ti. According to the source, this is what AMD's lineup could look like, when it's done resetting prices:

Going for the opposite of overkill (should be underkill right?) when it comes to VRAM, Gigabyte Technology has decided on rolling out a customized, overclocked Radeon HD 7850 card that has half the memory amount found even on stock models - 1 GB. Gigabyte's memory-light card is codenamed GV-R785OC-1GD and it features an Ultra Durable 2 design (Ferrite Core Chokes, Low RDS (on) MOSFET, Lower ESR Solid Capacitors), a WindForce 2X cooler with two fans and two copper heatpipes, a blue PCB, a GPU clocked at 900 MHz (860 MHz stock), a 256-bit memory interface, a VRAM frequency of 4800 MHz, one DVI port, a gold-plated HDMI out and two mini DisplayPort connectors.

The GV-R785OC-1GD is currently up for pre-order @ €264.71.

In case you feel a strange urge to liquid-cool a Radeon HD 7850, EK Water Blocks (EKWB) has just the thing for you. The company launched EK-FC7850, a block designed for reference and close-to-reference Radeon HD 7850 graphics cards. The compact EK-FC7850 is big enough to qualify as full-coverage, as it cools all essential components, including the GPU, memory, and VRM areas. Further, it's available in nickel and acetal+nickel variants. The primary material of the block is copper. The EK-FC7850 Acetal is priced at €80.95, while the EK-FC7850 Acetal+Nickel goes for €86.95.

AMD is working on a new set of price-cuts for its performance-thru-enthusiast lines of GPUs, following the launch of NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 660 Ti. The new pricing will take effect by the end of this week. The $299 GeForce GTX 660 Ti, as reviews show, offers higher performance per Dollar than Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition, and punches above its weight, at the $349 Radeon HD 7950, prompting AMD to change its specifications by increasing core clock speed, and augmenting it with PowerTune with Boost. The resulting HD 7950 with Boost is bound to replace the older HD 7950.

When AMD's new pricing scheme takes effect, this is how the performance-enthusiast segment will shape up:

• Prices of Radeon HD 7950 Boost will go down from US $349 to $319,
• Prices of Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition will go down from $299 to $249,
• Prices of Radeon HD 7850 2GB will go down to $209, and HD 7850 1GB to $189.

The first two new versions of the HD 7850 being introduced by SAPPHIRE have 2GB of the latest DDR5 memory. The standard model will ship with a core clock speed of 860MHz, and. memory clocked at 1200MHz (4.8Gb/s effective). At the same time SAPPHIRE is introducing a higher performance model, the SAPPHIRE HD 7850 OC Edition, with the faster clocks of 920MHz core and 1250MHz (5Gb/s effective) for the memory. Offering excellent performance at an even keener price point, the third model in the series is the SAPPHIRE HD 7850 1GB model which will ship with the core clock of 900MHz and memory at 1200MHz (4.8Gb/s effective).

All three models are equipped with a dual BIOS, and the new output configuration of Dual link DVI-I, Dual link DVI-D, HDMI and Display Port. They also feature SAPPHIRE's latest dual-extractor cooler technology - Dual-X - a highly efficient multi-heatpipe cooler with dual fans providing quiet and very cool operation during normal operating conditions, and superb cooling performance even under extreme load.

AMD is preparing a wave of price-cuts for Radeon HD 7800 series and HD 7900 series products, to make them competitive against NVIDIA's offerings, and to prepare for a new bunch of performance-segment GPUs from its competitor (such as the GTX 660). The new pricing looks like this:

The most significant set of price cuts concern HD 7950 and below, which are now more affordable in the price-performance "sweetspot" segment, which targets a bulk of PC gamers. The new prices will take effect later today.

ASUS is reportedly working on a new custom-design Radeon HD 7850 graphics card, to capture a key price-point in the performance market segment. The card uses the company's in-house DirectCu II dual-slot cooling solution, and is labeled "Dragon Edition" (model: DRAGON HD7850-DC2O-2GD5). The card ships with clock speeds lower than those of the HD 7850 DirectCu II TOP, with 910 MHz GPU and 5.00 GHz memory (vs. reference clock speeds of 870/4.84 GHz; and DCU2 TOP clock speeds of 975/5.00 GHz).

Interestingly, the HD 7850 DirectCu II Dragon Edition features a metal back-plate, something even the TOP model lacks. The PCB, too, differs from the that is found in other HD 7850 DCU2 graphics cards, featuring a 6+3 phase Digi+ VRM, which draws power from two 6-pin PCIe power connectors. The main heatsink bears a slightly different design to that of the other DCU2 models based on the GPU. ASUS is likely to price the card somewhere between the stock HD 7850 DirectCu II and the HD 7850 DirectCu II TOP.

Among the GeForce parts launched Computex, are an NVIDIA reference design GeForce GTX 670 model, and custom-design GeForce GTX 550 Ti and GeForce GTX 560 Ti graphics cards. These parts appear to be using custom PCB designs, and Zalman's very own Z-Machine GV1000 GPU cooling solutions.

Among the new Radeon HD 7000 series graphics cards slated for Computex, are the already-unveiled VF3000-cooled HD 7950, a VF3000-cooled Radeon HD 7870, a GV1000-cooled Radeon HD 7850, a VF1000-cooled Radeon HD 7770, and a VF900-cooled Radeon HD 7750. All five Radeon parts use custom PCB designs that are colored Zalman's signature shade of blue.

Tom's Hardware Germany found it difficult to explain lower than normal performance of an AFOX-branded Radeon HD 7850 graphics card. Upon looking at its stream processor count in GPU-Z, it was amazed to notice a value of 768, 25% lower than HD 7850 normal count of 1024. Attempts to replace its BIOS did not change the stream processor count, leading them to believe the stream processors were physically disabled. AMD was of little help, and they were redirected to talk to AFOX, which told them that since March, AMD has been shipping Pitcairn chips with 768 stream processor configuration to some OEMs. Could this be a new SKU under works? HD 7790? HD 7830?
