$70 is the New $60: Ubisoft on AAA Game Pricing Going Forward

Ubisoft stated that USD $70 will be the new norm for pricing of its AAA game titles going forward. Count this as 16.6% inflation over the $60 ($59.99) that was normal for AAA games a few years ago. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, in an interview with Axios, stated that $70 would be considered the default for the publisher's big AAA releases across platforms. This would make $70 the base price for the "Standard Edition." Various premium editions and season passes would be priced higher. NBA 2K21 became the first title with its standard edition priced at $70 in August 2020. Ubisoft will effect the $70 pricing on the upcoming "Skull and Bones," which releases this November.

Skull and Bones first Game to Feature Trifecta of DLSS, FSR, and XeSS

The pirate sea-battle online multiplayer, "Skull and Bones" by Ubisoft, is on its way to become the first PC game to feature performance enhancements from all three GPU brands—NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS. Ubisoft also put out the system requirements for the four main quality-levels of the game—1080p Low, 1080p High, 1440p High, and 4K. The GPU requirements are fairly steep for 1080p High and 1440p High; and you'll need at least an RTX 3080 or RX 6800 XT for 4K premium experience. The only available Arc GPU you can buy right now is the A380, and this probably meets the 1080p Low requirements. The PC version of Skull and Bones includes ray-traced global illumination, HDR, uncapped FPS, support for ultra-widescreens, and an in-game benchmark.

The free-to-play battle royale Ghost Recon Frontline title that was being made at Ubisoft Bucharest was also scrapped after a previous delay and significant fan backlash. The open-world Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora game has been delayed until FY2023 with indications that the launch could occur towards the end of the year.

Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed to Become Live Service Game, Usher in Collaborative Studio Development

Ubisoft is looking to capture itself a piece of the lucrative pie of live service games with its Assassin's Creed franchise. Following on the steps of multiple game development studios (let's not forget Bungie's Destiny 2, Fortnite, and the upcoming Halo Infinite), Ubisoft seems to have reached the conclusion that their Assassin's Creed universe is better served by being treated exactly like that - a forever evolving, frequently updated framework instead of the usual one-off interpretations of the franchise.

Assassin's Creed Infinity (working title) will supposedly usher in multiple historical settings and a collaborative, inter-studio developmental framework between Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Quebec, who will jointly "(...) guide, grow, evolve, and define the overall future of Assassin's Creed". Ubisoft wants to end the constant baton-passing of Assassin's Creed through its two development studios, and hopes that this change (alongside a mixed studio leadership) allows the franchise to really breathe in their in-house talent independent of developmental location.

We are working together to ensure a smooth 4K viewing experience. Ubisoft has today updated the PC system requirements for its Watch Dogs: Legion game. Set to release on October 29th this year, we are just a few weeks away from its release. With the arrival of NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3000 series Ampere graphics cards, Ubisoft has decided to update the official PC system requirements with RTX-on capabilities. The inclusion of raytracing in the game requires a faster CPU, as well as an RTX-capable GPU. At 1080p resolution, you need at least an RTX 2060 GPU to play with high settings, and raytracing turned to the medium, including DLSS. Going up to 1440p, Ubisoft recommends gamers to use at least an RTX 3070 GPU for very high preset, raytracing on high, and DLSS set to quality. If you want to max everything out and play with the highest settings at 4K resolution, you will need an RTX 3080 GPU.

Watch Dogs: Legion PC System Requirements Revealed

Ubisoft released the PC system requirements lists of its upcoming open-world cyberpunk game, Watch Dogs: Legion. When it releases on October 29, 2020, "Legion" will be among the first to feature new NVIDIA technologies such as DLSS 8K, letting you take advantage of GeForce RTX 30 series GPUs to play the game at 8K. Other PC-specific technical features include an uncapped frame-rate, support for various ultra-widescreen display aspect-ratios, a selection of in-game graphics settings, and an internal benchmark that also tests NVIDIA RTX performance.

Ubisoft Assassin's Creed: Valhalla Game Footage Leaks

Thanks to a discovery by TweakTown, we have obtained game footage pictures of the Ubisoft Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. While TweakTown does not share any video links due to respect for Ubisoft developers, we still get to see the medieval-themed Assassin's game. It is mostly resembling a Witcher 3 vibe, which is a good thing. Combining the gameplay of classic Assassin's Creed game with stunning visuals, the game is set to be a hit. Right off the bat, the game starts in a bloody and chaotic battle. On the battlefield, there is lots of equipment you can interact with, like a siege engine and battering rams. Being that the setting is a medieval one, there are of course castles that you need to overtake. Ubisoft may officially launch game footage at its Forward event on July 12th, when we could take a closer look at the upcoming game. For now, please check out the pictures below.
