Value & Conclusion

  • The Antec P100 ships for a mere 70 euro incl. taxes or 90 US dollars excl. them. As such, the chassis is considerably more expensive in the US than the EU, which is odd given their current exchange rates. Interestingly enough, Amazon is selling the chassis for a mere 63 US dollars + taxes at the moment, while stating a 90 US dollar default price.
  • Well-priced in Europe
  • Excellent frame-construction quality
  • Easy access to fans in the front
  • Support for up to a 280 mm radiator in the ceiling
  • Covered fan opening in the top
  • I/O accessible regardless of door position
  • Two fans with speed switches
  • Loads of space internally for easy assembly
  • Sturdy and functional HDD trays
  • Plenty of space to route/hide cables (30 mm)
  • Sound-dampening materials
  • Removable dust filter on the front and bottom
  • Expensive in the US (unless on sale)
  • Fan-speed switches not accessible from the outside
  • Front door plastic is a bit soft
  • Power and reset switch look and feel identical
  • No thumbscrews on expansion slots
  • Silver screws instead of all-black ones
So, we are a bit torn here. For the EU, the chassis is well-priced given the quality you get. With a study interior, clean looks, and a good material mix, the Antec P100 can be considered an excellent no frills mid-tower chassis for the money. Things are not quite as clear in the US since the chassis has an MSRP of 90 US dollars, which some companies do go by, while Amazon is currently offering it up at a discount, which makes it go for nearly as much as in European.

Now that we got that conundrum out of the way, let us focus on what the Antec P100 has to offer. The choice of materials, with the aluminum-lined front and its well-engineered but soft front door hinges which swing out really far and the easily removable dust filters - all are a testament to the P series of cases and what many have come to love and expect from Antec. With both side panels completely solid and sound dampening materials in the top and front of the chassis, the P100 is also beautifully silent. To ensure its pre-installed fans are as well, you may reduce their rotational speeds via individual switches. Unfortunately, these cannot be adjusted without taking the main side panel off. That said, there is really only one other issue with the potential to annoy as its power and reset switches are identical. It would have been prudent for Antec to make the reset switch smaller, and placing it a ways apart from the main on/off switch would have made sense as well. The P100 is, otherwise, a very down-to-earth and simple but capable chassis. If you like understated, clean enclosures with an emphasis on function instead of a gimmicky feature set, you should definitely look at the P100, especially if you can find it at its EU price in the US.
