ASUS MAXIMUS VI IMPACT (Intel LGA1150) Review

Value & Conclusion »

Overclocked Performance Summary

I have really changed how I do my overclock testing with motherboards. Every single test you see in the main section is repeated in the section that follows, including power consumption. As I test more products, a good picture of overclocking efficiency should emerge, which should prove interesting when it comes to those products that are 100% overclocking-oriented. I have grouped the results into sections here, and all Intel products are tested with 4.6 GHz CPU speed. Memory speeds vary depending on the platform's ability. I will report it here if a board fails to pass one of these tests, I need to increase voltages, or am perhaps allowed to drop voltages.

Getting the standard 4.6 GHz overclock out of my i7 4770K CPU was no problem, and simply enabling XMP had the memory run at 2666 MHz. I did set voltages manually and was impressed to see the rather precise level of options here, but given that the ASUS MAXIMUS VI IMPACT is what it is, no one should be surprised by these options. Hit a few button, maybe load a profile, and the IMPACT is ready to rock, no matter what you throw at it, and when it comes time to use the board with LN2 for memory overclocking, the CPU socket's close proximity to the DIMM slots, as provided by the IMPACT’s form factor, does allow for a bit of extra here other boards really cannot compare to. The results are obviously rather generic because of the generic overclock, but they also show how ASUS has most definitely tuned the board around benchmarking memory. I was so successful with the board, I am keeping mine forever.
