Packaging

The box for the Shadow Rock 3 is fairly compact, with the front showing the cooler and product name on a black background. The left side has a QR code for quick access to product information. In contrast, the back has a short paragraph detailing the product's asymmetrical design that allows for perfect memory clearance on both Intel's LGA115x motherboards and AMD's AM4 motherboards.


Turning to look at the right side of the box, we find a specifications table detailing all the typical information you may need to know. This includes the cooler's weight, dimensions, fan RPM, and supported sockets. Oddly missing, however, is the CFM rating for the fan. Finally, the top, like all the other panels, is black and simply lists the product name and TDP rating, which is 190 watts.

Hurray for foam packaging! be quiet! must know I have a soft spot for it. Jokes aside, they have been using foam for a long time, which is definitely a good thing as product packaging is something that can and is sometimes overlooked. Good packaging gives a product a premium feel over say blister packs and plastic clamshells. Thus, the fact that the Shadow Rock 3 cooler is well packed with foam, and the mounting hardware is secured in the smaller box on the left with the fan on the right, leaves a generally good impression, at least on yours truly.


The mounting hardware is similar to what we have seen from be quiet! previously and should pose no real problems. It supports the majority of today's modern sockets, and while the smaller parts can be a bit of a pain, they do serve a proper purpose. That said, further refinements to the hardware are still possible, with an example being the free-floating mounting bridge.
