CM Storm's approach to creating a cross-platform gaming headset is filled with good intentions, and most of the options are well executed. You get a headset that works with all major consoles and PCs to boot without having to buy any extra cables. For console gaming, the headset's USB sound cards allows for the microphone to work in all sorts of different configurations, and you just have to plug in the USB cable to give it a go on your PC. The sound quality in PC mode, where the USB sound card handles everything, is alright, but nothing more. There is a bit of sound quality to be gained by going into console mode and letting the in-line USB sound card handle the amplification.
As a PC gamers, I find it a little sad of CM Storm not to include a complete by-pass mode through which to run the headset with your high quality sound card at home to then switch to the USB sound card while on the go.
