Value and Conclusion

  • The Cooler Master HAF 700 has an MSRP of US$299 excl. taxes.
  • Excellent cooling performance
  • Excellent level of engineering
  • Thoughtful omission of some more extreme features to achieve the lower price point when compared to the HAF 700 Evo
  • Functional, tool-less expansion-slot locking mechanism
  • Functional, plastic locks for several internal components
  • Lots of screws, nicely sorted in a box
  • Lots of zip-tie hooks for incredibly clean build
  • Plenty of well-placed grommet openings
  • Can hold up to nine hard drives
  • Tons of space for immense liquid-cooling setups
  • Removable mounting frame for fans and radiators on floor
  • Tool-less entry and HDD, PSU, and GPU installation
  • Two 200 mm ARGB fans in the front and three additional 120 mm SickleFlow fans inside
  • Underside dust filter may be pulled out from the side
  • Massive amounts of space for anything you can throw at it
  • Well thought out unpacking experience
  • Massive and heavy chassis
  • Plastic front has a texture that doesn't feel high quality in some areas
  • Some areas of the case are underutilized
  • Plastic clips for cables not needed
  • Bottom case fan just a nice to have, not really needed
The Cooler Master HAF 700 doesn't just carry the same model number as the EVO variant, but is the actual chassis frame at less than half the MSRP. That alone gears the chassis towards a completely different target audience. While the HAF 700 EVO tries to appeal to the small group of "money is no object" enthusiasts who like building systems that cost thousands of dollars, the Cooler Master HAF 700 brings things down into the more reasonable realm of being able to justify spending $300 for the size and feature set. To achieve this, Cooler Master had to cut a few parts and features, but the trimming was done extremely well, so the remaining offering is in some ways even more appealing than the EVO variant.

Thanks to the lack of the front mounting frame with just three HDD plates blocking air flow, the HAF 700 manages to push the already excellent cooling boundaries of the EVO variant a little further, still providing the ability to install up to nine storage units - far more than most will need. On top of that all the PCBs are still present, giving you all the same centralized control of your Cooler Master components via the MasterPlus+ app.

The build experience and feel of quality is overwhelmingly positive as well, as the case does not only utilize the massive amount of space well, but also retains the same attention to detail we previously saw with the EVO variant. In fact, the Cooler Master HAF 700 feels more balanced in terms of price vs. performance. So if you are eyeing the HAF 700 EVO because of its size, interior space and functionality but can't seem to justify $650, even if that gets you a display and premium material mix, then the Cooler Master HAF 700 is just the chassis you could have hoped for.
