XG Plus 80 Platinum Power Supply
We also received the XG Plus 80 Platinum Power Supply in the 850 W capacity. The unit ships in a full color package, with an image of the device in the front and plenty of technical details on the back. The PSU is neatly boxed inside a foam tray and a cloth bag. The cables are packaged in their own pouch as well.
All the wiring for the internal connectors is black, with flatband wiring for easier cable routing. This includes the 24-pin ATX power cable as well, which is nice to see. On top of that, you also receive a normal power cord and several cable and Velcro ties. Last. but not least there is a manual, which informs you the PSU has a USB interface - to use with Cooler Master's software app.
The unit is rather compact, and while it is of no real concern in our build, the PSU will certainly also fit inside a classic mid-tower enclosure without issue. The fan on the XG Plus 80 Platinum is ARGB equipped and controllable with software, so that you may sync the lighting with the rest of your system. This is a nice touch of course, but odds are that you won't be seeing much of the PSU's aesthetics once installed, hidden away as they typically are. On the opposite side, there is the specifications label with all the usual details.
The exterior panel comes with a nifty looking vent, the power socket and the usual on/off switch. On the internal side, all the plugs for the cables are flush with the housing and there is that proprietary plug to interface with your USB 2.0 header on the motherboard.
One side of the XG Plus just sports some branding, but the other is where the unit manages to provide its USP in the form of an ARGB panel that also acts as a display, for insight into the real-time operation of the power supply. The aforementioned USB interface enables specific functionality around the PSU inside the MasterPlus+ app which will explicitly recognize the device within your system for a seamless, centralized user experience. However, as this is a case review, not a PSU one, we won't dive into that here.
