Ripple Measurements

In the following table you will find the ripple levels that we measured on the main rails of Silent Pro M2 1000W. According to ATX specification the limits are 120 mV (+12V) and 50 mV (5V, 3.3V and 5VSB).

Ripple suppression on the minor rails is excellent. On the +12V rail, the most important of all, ripple suppression is good enough however lately we are used to see more and more higher/high-end units with near or under 40mV ripple on this rail at worst case, so 55mV doesn't look so good anymore. However this reading is still below half of the limit for this rail, so it certainly can't be called bad performance. It is just us that we have been spoiled by PSUs from Delta, Seasonic and SuperFlower, which run at much lower ripple voltages.

Ripple at Full Load

In the following oscilloscope screenshots you can see the AC ripple and noise that the main rails registered (+12V, 5V, 3.3V and 5VSB). The bigger the fluctuations on the oscilloscope's screen the bigger the ripple/noise. For all measurements we set 0.01 V/Div (each vertical division/box equals to 0.01V) as standard.
