Cougar Gaming 700K Mechanical Keyboard Review

The Package

The Cougar Gaming 700K's package is large, which is due to the keyboard being wider and longer than usual because of its additional keys.

Cougar chose to include everything in the 700K. It even has a mini-jack pass-through system which we have always had our reservations about due to the lack of headphones and headsets with short cables.

Closer Examination

The 700K is pretty well off in terms of looks. The wrist rest's rubberized part can be seated into two different positions, which could be handy if you do not use the regular WASD keys while gaming.

The keyboard features extra keys in various positions. The macro-recording key could come in handy if you need to add a new one in-game. You have four presets to select from, and there are dedicated buttons, which gives you a lot of options.

Media controls are in the top-right corner and work well. There are three volume-control buttons, which is a bit clumsy compared to just adding a scroll wheel to take care of this feature.

It seems as though illumination is a must-have for any gaming keyboard right now. Cougar sticks to their own color pallet and offers the 700K with orange-red LEDs that illuminate its mechanical keys.

The stands are small but present. They do not offer several elevations like on other higher-end gaming keyboards.
