A Closer Look
The Eurocom Sky X9E3 is, to put it bluntly, one heavy bastard, and with that weight comes a sense of durability. The unit feels nice and solid. All that is to be seen at the bottom of the front are some grills. Otherwise, there's nothing interesting to report on. The left side features three USB 3.0 ports, two RJ45 GbE ports, and an assortment of audio ports. Moving on to the back, we find the power plug, another USB 3.0 port, and an HDMI port.
On the right side, another USB 3.0 port makes an appearance, along with a 6-in-1 card reader. Two USB 3.1 Type C ports with support for Thunderbolt 3 / DP 1.3 / HDMI 2.0 are available. Filling out the rest of the connectivity options are two miniDP 1.3 connectors and a lock port. The bottom of the unit features air intakes along with a grill for a down-firing subwoofer.
Lift the display and you are greeted by a full-size keyboard that features RGB backlighting. A Full HD web cam is located at the top-center of the display. The power button and indicator LEDs are located smack dab center above the keyboard, while the display itself is connected to the unit via a strong central hinge. Overall, the design is neat and clean with no gaps, sharp edges, or other issues to speak of.
The power brick for the Eurocom Sky X9E3 is specially designed and built by Eurocom and FSP. It has an output of 780 watts, allowing this particular laptop to sport SLI graphics cards without the need for dual power bricks. It even features an LCD that shows wattage, voltage, amps, and temperature. Suffice it to say that it's definitely a step up compared to other power bricks I have seen bundled with laptops and mini-PCs.
