Installation

Even the installation of the HDDs is tool-less. Two plastic strips with metal pins simply slid into the holes on the HDD and tension from the strips keep them in place. Then the HDDs can just slid into the rack and lock in place. No form of sound dampening was taken into consideration when they designed the HDD mounting system. With a loud hard drive such as the Western Digital Raptor Series, the HDD noise starts to get very annoying.

As far as installation goes, it's pretty much the same routine as any other case. The Triton 180 does not have a removable motherboard tray unfortunately so it's just setting the I/O plate, and placing your standoffs, then mounting the motherboard.

For the tool-less drive bays, a little metal pin comes out when the white tabs on the side of the rack are pushed forward. These pins click in to the screw holes on the drive, and lock it securely in place.

Installation of PCI cards and GFX cards is just a matter of popping the retention clips, and then placing the card and then locking them in place again. The clip system used works very well, and lock the card very securely, however you can also place a screw to secure the cards even better.

A couple of issues I ran into with the installation. First my X1900 would not fit in the case. It took me at least 10 minutes to finally get it in place, and the chassis was bending because of it. I looked and looked, but I could not find what was causing the problem. The second X1900 went into place fine, so perhaps it was related to the dent in the case caused by shipping.

The other issue was the fan duct. The issue here was because of the large cooler I used and it interfered with the fan duct. I had to remove it in order to close the case - No big deal at all.

Finished Look

And finally it's all finished up.
