Logitech UE's big boombox performs pretty well throughout, price considered. Portable, stylish design always comes at a price premium, but Logitech UE somehow managed to keep the boombox at the high but reasonable price of $340. You get what is arguably the best looking Bluetooth battery-powered solution out there, and it sounds acceptable to boot. The boombox has both the performance and the looks to excite and is, with a good battery life, definitely a good choice for anyone looking for a portable speaker.
Looking just at the sound quality, you could probably get a wall-socketed powered dock that has comparable sound quality for around two thirds of the price; however, the sound quality is only half the product here. The combination of portability, great design, and ease of use make it worthwhile. Everything is well engineered and looks great on the boombox. Even the dull, functional rubber-base is turned into something that looks good. The Logitech UE Boombox is only really comparable to the insanely overpriced B&O PLAY speaker, which costs around three times as much as the boombox.
The price is, on its own, a bit high, but this price is, if you consider that people gladly pay $600 or more for a smartphone, not out this world, especially considering this is a device that can be used pretty much anywhere.
We do miss having a good way to transport this device around. A carrying strap/case/protector "thingy" for use on the move would be a very welcome addition, and we sincerely hope that either Logitech UE or third party manufacturers take this opportunity to design such a needed accessory. Another small issue is the omission of a battery-level indicator, which would have been a welcome addition utility-wise.
