After the inital setup the system uses the two screens to extend the desktop across all three monitors. I have left the background image the way it is, to illustrate this fact.
The Matrox DualHead2Go let's you do everything you would expect from a multi monitor setup. The first image shows a DVD (Mystic River) playing on the notebook screen, with the other two monitors used for browsing and Windows Explorer. If you maximize a window within a used screen, it opens up perfect in a single display. Matrox even allows you to set the initial screen on which programs or pop-ups open up. Maximizing the DVD on the two external screens works flawlessly as well. There is a large black border around the DVD video as the monitors have a much higher resolution than the movie. At no point does the DualHead2Go Digtial get warm, no matter what was displayed on the LCDs.
As mentioned before, you are free to display three completely different items on the screen. Imagine instant messengers on the left, Techpowerup.com on the middle and your favorite movie on the laptop screen - perfect. Even Macrovision does not seem to kick in with the DualHead2Go. I was able to move the DVD movie around all three screens and it displayed perfectly. Imagine sticking two DVI equipped beamers and placing their projections next to each other! 720p HD content is possible on two cost effective SVGA beamers with this device.
