At $50 dollars, the Montech Fighter 400 manages to offer a really interesting balance between build quality, material mix, and functionality. I won't use the word "features" as a case in this budget segment does not tend to innovate but is usually at the whim of what OEM factories offer as a base. That said, getting a real glass panel and sturdy frame is refreshing, with the front feeling a bit basic, but also nice and stiff and thus not overly cheap. This make the Montech Fighter 400 a great value out of the box because you won't have to worry about it deforming easily.
On the inside, things are clearly geared to be as functional as possible, but Montech has still made a few choices that could be improved upon. The I/O panel does not look as refined as in their Flyer chassis, for example, and I would have liked to see the jump to two USB 3.0 ports with the bonus of being able to connect them to 2.0, but even that is no longer needed in our modern motherboard landscape. The savings of removing the outdated 2.0 ports and going with a single blue LED fan instead could have been put towards two 3-pin cooling units. That would have not only provided a more balanced case at this amazing price point, but also improved out-of-the-box cooling performance. But, in the end, the Montech Fighter 400 offers a whole bunch of value for a sub-$50 dollar chassis regardless, which makes it a great choice if you are looking to build a low-cost budget system where every dollar counts.
