The S5s do a lot of things really well. If you need a reliable set of sturdy in-ears with good sound quality for use with a mobile source, these are damn near perfect if you only listen to contemporary music. The bass performance you get out of these things is amazing cost considered and the midrange is no slouch either. The treble is OK, but it is not on the same level as the bass and midrange, which is a good trade-off if you listen to music in an environment with a lot of background noise.
These are really good bang-for-the-buck, and their sturdy construction is a real bonus. My only complaint is that there is no option with a microphone. It would be a perfect everyday headset with a microphone and a button on the already long cable solution.
The cable is also a bit more annoying on the S5s as compared to the S1s, which is probably because the housing on the S5s is lighter and smaller. We are nitpicking here, but it is still a minor nuisance.
