As mentioned previously, running this kit at its rated speed with Gear 1 is not necessarily plug and play. Prior to this, the CPU IMC was mapped out for the lowest operating voltages of the System Agent and VDDQ_TX. These require a different amount based on different frequencies and configurations. Ultimately, DDR4-4000 in Gear 1 Ratio was not possible initially, using the hardware on hand. This caused a delay in the review, but eventually a motherboard came along that was up to the task. To give a good example of the performance penalties of using Gear 2 in games, benchmarks were conducted with memory at 4000 MT/s 1:2 Ratio (Gear 2) and 4000 MT/s 1:1 Ratio (Gear 1) for these Intel benchmarks.
