Optional Accessories

Some users may be disappointed to see that the Noctua NH-U12P does not support their Xeon or Socket 939 processors, but Noctua has optional mounting hardware available upon request (free for Socket 939). Both mounting systems come with backplates and the rest of the necessary hardware to mount the heatsink.

Astute readers will notice that the NH-U12P is capable of mounting two 120mm fans. Noctua was kind enough to send over an additional NF-P12 fan for testing. The retail package is very similar the the heatsink's packaging and the fan comes with the same ULNA noise reducers. Additionally, there are four rubber fan mounts, four standard case screws and a 3-pin to Molex adapter.

The fan shown here and included in the NH-U12P package are the new premium 9-blade models. These fans are beige and brown like Noctua's other fans, and are sleeved in black. What makes these fans really unique are the "Vortex-Control Notches" that Noctua designed into them. These notches split the normal air vortexes into several smaller ones and spread the noise over a wider range of frequencies. Simply put, these notches reduce wind noise off the rear of the fan blades and make the fan much more quieter than a standard fan.
