A Look At The Internals
You have to remove several screws to crack open the tester, which is easily done.
By removing several more screws, you can detach the main PCB from the plastic chassis.
The ARM Cortex M4 CPU.
The small LCD screen, detached from the main PCB.
These are the ripple filtering capacitors that simulate the system's mainboard. There are only four pairs, meaning there is no filtering for the 5VSB rail, which is why the tester doesn't provide the ripple on that rail.
The golden parts are resistors with model number
WSL4026. Their tolerance is 1% down to 0.0002 ohms, and they are used as shunt resistors, to measure the amperage on the PSU's rails.
The resistors the tester uses in standalone mode to provide a 4 W load to the power supply. These only have a 5 W power rating, which is why the tester automatically shuts down after a minute in standalone mode.
This is the first revision of the board. Hopefully, there are more revisions in the future.
