Power Consumption

Let us now check on just how much power the TS-451+ needs in sleep, idle, and during heavy throughput.

We use a GW Instek GPM-8212 power analyzer for all our power consumption measurements.

Sleep, Idle and Load

Power consumption was very low in all configurations; however, the TS-451 with 4GB consumes a little less power overall, which is probably due to the doubling of RAM with the TS-451+ we evaluated.

Power Consumption in Standby Mode

Vampire power or phantom load is the amount of power a device consumes when it is switched off but still plugged into the power grid. According to the ErP Lot 6 2013 directive, vampire power should be below 0.5 W.

With the ErP option deactivated, the NAS needs less than 1 W in standby, and it is ErP Lot 6 2013 compliant with ErP enabled.
