QPAD UC50 & FX90 Mouse Mats Review

Performance

Putting the FX90 and UC50 through their paces was a pleasure. I usually am not that comfortable gaming on really soft mats as I find the glide too inconsistent and the difference between static and kinematic friction too large for comfort. The surface on the QPAD FX-series seems to close that gap as it rather feels like a harder hybrid mat with the soft surface's excellent vibration-dampening properties, which make these interesting mats to play on. Tracking proved great with mice featuring the Avago ADNS-3090 and ADNS-9800 sensor.

Comparing the UC's surface to the CM Storm Speed-RX's makes it clear that QPAD's surface held onto more of the features a conventional soft mat exhibits. The QPAD's surface lends itself to those running their mouse at incredibly low sensitivity for very rapid moves; the Speed-RX mat, on the other hand, is good for medium sensitivity gamers.

The friction between mouse feet and mat surface only marginally lower on the UC mat, UC and FX surfaces are actually more alike than different.

Size 50 is already huge, which makes the 90 cm wide mats full desktop mats that can house all of your gaming gear. Both mats are pretty bomb-proof, but neither will survive a major cola disaster.
