  • Affordable price compared to other high-end air coolers

Reeven's Okeanos is certainly a surprise to say the least. This particular cooler from the recently formed company managed to compete with the best-performing air coolers on the market, offering top-tier performance that rivals the likes of Noctua's NH-D15 while also being more affordable. The latter happens to be another key point in favor of the Okeanos since it has a suggested retail price of just $79.99, making it as expensive as or cheaper than almost every other high-end air cooler on the market. Add to that its unique, easy-to-use set of mounting hardware and you end up with a winning combination. Oh, did I mention they made sure to include extra fan clips for installing a third fan? A nice bonus if you ask me since users can further improve cooling performance if they so choose. The Okeanos' bold looks, in part due to its vibrantly eye-catching fans, are also a nice change of pace. Put its pros together and you have an interesting new competitor in the high-end air-cooling market.

However, some issues can't be overlooked. First, a lack of general availability comes to mind, though this will hopefully change in the near future. Then there is the lack of memory clearance. The Okeanos is not the cooler for you if Corsair's Dominator Platinum memory is on your wish list. Let's not forget the cooler's noise levels. If you use the included fan-speed adapters, it's near silent; however, for maximum performance, the cooler is noisy, reaching 53 dBA in my testing. Another issue is the fact that it encroaches on the motherboard's first expansion slot, which won't be an issue in most situations; however, certain motherboards and add-in cards won't play nice due to the Reveen cooler's size. Finally, the yellow fans, those vibrant, catchy fans, are a love it or hate it aspect. I myself don't really like yellow, but some might be looking for just that color in their high-end cooler.

In my own experience with the Reeven Okeanos, using the included fan-speed adapters makes for a quiet cooler that performs extremely well. I would actually go as far as to recommend installing them for that very reason. Performance does suffer, but not to a serious degree, and the near silent experience is just golden.

Overall, Reeven has come out swinging with the Okeanos by offering exceptional performance, versatility, and bold looks at a relatively affordable price for an enthusiast-grade CPU cooler.
