Introduction

SteelSeries Logo

SteelSeries is a Denmark-based peripherals company founded in 2001. The Aerox 9 Wireless is best described as an MMO-fied Aerox 5 Wireless. The regular side-button layout of the Aerox 5 Wireless has been replaced by a 12-button grid, as is customary for MMO mice. Furthermore, the scroll wheel can be tilted, which gives access to two additional button functions along with the ability to scroll horizontally. Other than that, not much is different: The Aerox 9 Wireless is capable of 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth 5.0 and features up to 180 hours of battery life according to SteelSeries. The TrueMove Air sensor capable of 18,000 CPI is used, which is a modified PixArt PAW3335. TTC Golden Micro switches rated for 80 million clicks are used for the main buttons, accompanied by pure PTFE feet. The charging cable is USB Type-C and particularly flexible, and at 88 g, the Aerox 9 Wireless is among the lightest MMO wireless mice. Lastly, both the rich RGB lighting and 18 buttons in total can be configured within SteelSeries GG.
