The Package

UE ships the BLAST in a box with plenty of padding. In the box, you get a speaker and a charger with a cable. UE is unfortunately still on Micro-USB; it would be nice to see more USB-C connectors in the wild as it is much better in terms of durability and can transfer more juice if the charging circuit is up for it.


UE also released the Power Up pad with the BLAST, and it is the perfect addition for people who want to use the speaker's smart capabilities.

App

The app is super simple. Since the device is intended for use with Alexa, it also makes sense to keep it pretty basic. To setup the speaker, connect via Bluetooth and sign in with your Amazon account, which means you are now ready to go. The device comes bundled with three months of free Amazon Music, which is pretty neat. Firmware updates install automatically and pretty quickly without the need for user interaction.
