Product Details
The lumbar and neck pillows are included to ensure one can adjust the chair's ergonomics to one's liking. Proper lumbar support should, however, offer both vertical- and depth-specific adjustment options. The neck and lumbar pillows are wrapped in PVC leather.
The smaller pillow is for neck support, consists of memory foam, and bears an embroidered "V" logo. The larger pillow is for the lumbar region and has Vertagear's embroidered logo in the middle. Both pillows snap on via a mechanism that will hopefully keep on working properly - time will tell. The lumbar pillow is also adjustable in two different directions because of snap-on attachments - upward and downward, which ensures it supports your lower back in the best possible way.
Usage Experience
The SL5000 is covered in breathable PVC leather, meaning it cuts back on sweat a bit. We tested this chair for many hours - under well-controlled ambient conditions. Ambient temperatures obviously play a major part when it comes to testing a gaming chair. We couldn't find any grease or sweat on the black upholstery.
We interviewed more than three users who had extensively tried out the SL5000 gaming chair and asked for their feedback. The caster wheels tend to be quite stable in comparison to those of other chairs in the same working space. Sitting and backrest areas are also wide enough for normal-sized users, and soft due to the high density resilience foam. However, since this chair is armed with a full steel frame and has a 150 kg (330 lb) load limit, the sitting base and backrest should be a bit wider to more readily accommodate oversized users.
Almost all interviewees feared that the raised ridges on the sides would lead to a claustrophobic feeling. In the beginning, they felt as though they were a bit confined to the chair, but with time, they found sitting on the SL5000 comfortable mainly because they had adopted a better body posture.
The neck-support pillow is quite small and soft, but as per usual, we removed it right after the photos were taken. The backrest is too tall for me since I am only 1.65 m (5.41") tall, which consequently puts the neck-support pillow at a point where it is of no use. The lumbar-support pillow, on the other hand, is big enough, but not that soft. If it were a bit softer, it would feel just right.
If an end user likes customization, there are an abundance of accessories on Vertagear's website. The caster wheels can be replaced for $20. An antibacterial Vertagear pillow that resists odors can also be purchased, or one can just obtain their pillow case for an additional touch of luxury.
