Vizo Uranus eSATA & USB 2.0 HDD enclosure Review

Value and Conclusion

  • The Vizo Uranus will set you back somewhere around $60 USD. This may be on the high end, but well worth it.
  • Great USB 2.0 Performance
  • Good eSATA Performance
  • Fan for (very little) airflow is silent
  • Solid construction
  • Everything needed is included - even an eSATA bracket
  • Available in multiple colors
  • Well packaged
  • Not completely made of aluminum
  • USB 2.0 & eSATA cables are just around 1m long.
  • Large power brick
  • Not screw-less installation
  • Not fanless
The Vizo Uranus enclosure looks just like the Luxon Advanced with the only difference in overall looks being the label on the side. It is very well constructed, with the rounded corners and two tone design. Not just the very modern looks, but also the USB 2.0 performance is great as it takes second place in our benchmark charts. Everybody worried about the fan noise, let me rest your hearts as it is very quiet. It comes with everything you need, down to the eSATA PCI bracket, but the short USB and eSATA cables are somewhat counter productive. The big power brick may not be the most advanced choice as some manufacturers use much more efficient & smaller PSUs, but it will most likely be hidden away with all the other cables under your desk. Overall the Vizo Uranus shines, not only in looks but in performance as well
