Sparkle Launches GeForce GT 240 GDDR5 1GB Graphics Card
SPARKLE Computer Co., Ltd., the professional VGA card manufacturer and supplier, today launched the SPARKLE GeForce GT240 1024MB GDDR5 Graphics Cards with 1024MB GDDR5 big capacity and high speed memory, delivering world-class HD graphics performance for mainstream gamers.
Taking the performance increase into account, SPARKLE GeForce GT240 1024MB GDDR5 Graphics Cards features 40nm chip process from TSMC, this new process let SPARKLE GeForce GT240 1024MB GDDR5 Graphics Cards to be the first batch graphics cards on market to adopt the NVIDIA new 40nm graphics chip. Thanks to advanced 40nm process, now It features much higher transistor density than before, bringing a greater number of stream processors than its predecessor.96 Processor Cores -- Performance Upgrade
SPARKLE GeForce GT240 1024MB GDDR5 Graphics Cards now features 96 processor cores, 32 processor cores more than the GeForce 9600GT graphics card has. The amount exaltation of the processor cores can brings amazing floating point processing power for good gaming performance and powerful performance ever from the unit area of the chip! According to the test done by SPARKLE, the 3D Vantage High scores of the SPARKLE GeForce GT240 1024MB GDDR5 Graphics Cards is 20% more than the GeForce 9600GT reference boards.
1024MB GDDR5 Large-Capacity High Speed Video Memory
Today's game, such as Crysis, Alone in the Dark 5, Stalker: clear sky, they normally use a large number of bump texture, transparent texture to describe faces of characters and render realistic gaming scenes, so these games put higher demands on the capacities of video memory.SPARKLE GeForce GT240 1024MB GDDR5 Graphics Card comes with incredible 1024MB GDDR5 video memory which has higher bandwidth and working speed than the ordinary GDDR3 video memory. Meet the needs of a large number of 3D games, allowing the gamers to enjoy the pleasure brought by 3D games.
30dB Quiet Designed Cooling System with High Efficient
The SPARKLE GeForce GT240 1024MB GDDR5 Graphics Cards are equipped with exquisitely made low-speed cooling fan with great noise control. Fan speed to be controlled around 2700 Rpm to 3300 Rpm and it's working 30dB environment . The cooling fan uses high-density aluminum cooling fins with 0.5mm thick fins and 1.5mm pitch, which dramatically raise the heat dissipation area and the thermal performance. Helped with the strong R&D team, SPARKLE also extends the service life of the cooling fins by doing treatment on the fins' surface to prevent the oxidation.

In the end this is just really all for revenue raising, though not many will buy it, some will, providing nvidia and their AIBs with a tiny trickle of revenue.
I would have very much preferred nvidia to rebadge the 9800GT to a GTS240, because its by far the most used card (if counting other G92 variants).
This card reminds me of AMD's HD2600 series... new tech, fabrication process, but inferior to the previous generation in the same price bracket.
would have made more sense if the 9800GT was rebadged as a GT240, rather than grabbing an already crippled G94 core and crippling it even more with DX10.1 on top, not really helping.
Dx10.1 doesnt even benefit nvidia that much, but when they conceived the plan for this GT240 i'm assuming they would have had the design at a higher clockspeed and perf levels in mind, probably exceeding that of a 9800GT, but due to the poor yields for nvidia everything was dialed back. As i said you cant bail out because R&D costs mean that a company would spiral into a deficit without income and it takes years.
Reminds me of Egyptian history. When it doesnt rain in the nile, empires fall.
9800GT = GT240
would have made sense to me, but yeah, guess not.
"nvidias bad naming" is another story...
And how long before they rebrand this thing the GT 340?
No, I'm not joking, they're about to do that, and I was honestly wanting to know.
That being said, the point remains the naming scheme is ridiculous.
the 310 and 320 will be a 9400GT with shaders removed, but DX11 added
Well at least the nvidia tegra is making them money... the PSP will be in its death throes as soon as nvidia comes up with a handheld tegra based console.
I was bored.
As for the comment about having a half brain and buying a ATI card, um the only ATI card i am looking forward to buying is a 5670 when it shows up for my secondary rig, and i am giving away my Sapphire 4670 to a friend, and buying in replace a HIS ICE Q 4670. But the last card i bought was my 9800GT EE, and next i am buying a GT240.
Why buy a card that is weaker then something else? Doesn't matter, each card is different and besides i like to buy video cards. Hell i was about to buy a GT210 and a GTS250 last night haha, but had to control myself haha. :ohwell:
