Patriot Shows off So Called Fastest System on The Planet

The guys at patriot have an interesting demo up and running. They managed to build the worlds fastest PC, using five LSI controllers to connect forty SSDs to them. The system manages a sustained 155,000 IOPS/s This may not give you and idea about the actual speed, but we were given a great example. Ripping a Blu-Ray takes 2-3 hours on a good PC. It takes a mere 0.9 seconds on this one. Yes, less than "one Mississippi". For all of you wanting to build a system like this, be prepared to spend around 60,000 US Dollars on it.

Besides that they are showing off some of their memory, and a small device called "Gear box", which is a dual USB 2.0 to Ethernet adapter which can be used as a file server or print server. The unit goes for a mere 49 US Dollars. On top of that, they have a few SDXC cards on display as well.

Darksaberyes it can - it has a GTX 260 in it ^^. And imagine the the level load times - or the lack thereof. No more toilet breaks between levels ;)
Well that just ruins it for me. I considered those to be a pivotal part of the magical Crysis experience.

but if you stick that many Samsung F3 1Tb drives in the same array - it'll cost less, have a zillion times more storage and will perform say 50%?

And why would I ever use that Thermaltake case anyhoo?

I would think so. In your common HDD the discs have to spin up, those arms have to move back and forth and so on.

btarunrMaybe the examples by Patriot were a stretch, but at the end of the day, storage is the weakest link in any "fast" PC, and faster storage almost immediately makes the PC more responsive.
While true, and I do agree..

These claims, prices etc are completely off the wall.

Why doesn't GM make a new Camaro with twin turbo's off the factory floor and charge 9 million for it because it has 800HP *most HP EVER from a factory Camaro* congrats... wooot.... :slap:

rather than have one guy jerk in 0.9 seconds, they just got 50 guys together in a RAID array...
