AMD Announces Catalyst 10.10c Hotfix Driver Update

AMD gave out the latest hotfix driver update to its recently published Catalyst 10.10 WHQL, which is a whole lot more than being just a hotfix, this time. A hotfix update is usually given out by AMD if it misses out on addressing a couple of important issues with a recently published Catalyst WHQL driver update. Catalyst 10.10c Hotfix adds early OpenGL 4.1 support, and surprisingly adds multiple game-specific performance improvements (unusual for a Hotfix).

DOWNLOAD: AMD Catalyst 10.10c Hotfix
Details are as follows:

  • OpenGL 4.1 beta support
  • Support for the new Morphological Anti-Aliasing feature
  • Dead Rising 2 - Crossfire profile (Resolves negative scaling)
  • Crossfire Performance Improvement for:
    o Metro 2033
    o F1 2010 - (Direct X9 version)
    o Fallout New Vegas
  • Performance optimizations for systems with an AMD Radeon HD 6870 and AMD Radeon HD 6850 series of graphics products installed
  • Aliens versus Predator performance enhancements
  • Star Craft 2 performance enhancements
  • OpenGL performance enhancements - gains can be seen in Prey, Quake Wars: Enemy Territories, and Heaven v2

Wow, nice improvements for just a hotfix, maybe I will finally have to upgrade the drivers, had not switched to 10.10's yet.

Most likely a typo if they used numpad to input the game date.

Nvidia release notes of their latest drivers were full of typos and mistakes and now it's AMD, what's going on?

lol MLAA, equivalent to rubbing vaseline all over your razor sharp HD screen.

That's three hotfixes in a week, good to see the quality driver support has not changed with the ATI brand going down the toilet.

more like an "optimisation" than a hot fix

Lots of fixes does not equal bad driver support.

EDIT:
crow1001Sweet, have had no problems with previous drivers but updated ones are aways welcome.
Yeah right, figures.

Why does AMD have to release a driver hotfix after every driver update now?

Thats like asking, "why do they have to release new drivers, the first driver they make each generation should be perfect!" Not a perfect world, both companies hotfix, not a new thing, and numerous ones in quick succession is a good sign that they care, not the opposite. Oh yeah, also 10.10's are the first drivers released after the 6800's came out also, so extra hotfixes should definitely be expected.

so...... should we wait for some raw numbers before updating? someone almost always has

issues with new drivers.i've learned to wait a while before updating.is there a thread for

posting performance numbers or benchies? i hope to see any improvements.

Crikey. I've had my 6870 five days and it's on to it's 3rd hotfix already.

Still on vanilla Cat 10.10 ... will wait until later tonight to decide if I can be bothered installing this.

Forgot about Steam's AMD driver update thingy. Will give that a try later on.

EDIT: Steam doesn't do Catalyst Hotfixs yet.

Ive read some where that you need to use a registry hack to get MLAA to work on the 5xxx & previous generations of cards. I read that one guy managed to get it running on his 4850 but I havent looked into it much so I dont know if he came back with results

Thank god -- Starcraft II updates! Hopefully this will fix the crappy performance and constant "your computer is running out of VRAM" messages I've been getting (after the last SC patch), even though I'm running the game in 256mb texture mode on a 512 card. :P

Holy shit -- Steam even notifies you about hotfix updates?

I have only found a fix for 5xxx series cards so far

but aparently AMD blocked the reg hacks since they probably found out that EVERYONE was using regedit to get something which is only supposed to be working on 6xxx series cards ONLY (exclusively??)

the reghack only worked with 10.10a/b, an no longer works for 10.10c BUT I found some modified drivers >>>HERE<<<

Just download the 10.10c hot fix, start and cancel the installation BEFORE it starts to install the drivers then copy and paste the files in the rar into this directory "C:\AMD\Catalyst_10.10c_Hotfix_Win7_Oct26\Packages\ Drivers\Display" and then initiate the installation from the "C:\AMD\Catalyst_10.10c_Hotfix_Win7_Oct26" folder.

I hope this helps. thats what im currently running now and MLAA takes a chunk of points off me in 3d06. however it wasnt so bad in vantage.

MORE INFO CAN BE FOUND >>>HERE<<<

(credit goes to the guys at overclock dot net forums for the 5xxx series MLAA fix - I dont know if thats where the mod originated but thats where i found it)

so if i have 2x 4850 should i get these for the crossfire support?

Stop crapping about AMD drivers i would rather have a company that fixes things than one that leaves it broken, its really not hard to update and i still haven't had problems with crossfire.

this is more an update for the 6xxx series cards - I wouldnt bother till they come out with the official 10.11 pack. you can if you want but you wont be able to get the MLAA working. unless you can get the 10.10a installation package

Like said this is more for 6 series cards and 5 series, though if your having Fallout NV issues or something, then I would get them just for the crossfire fixes. But since 4800's are now 2 generations old, driver updates from them are going to be just about done since they are pretty well perfected after 2 years.

MLAA hack works on 10.10c ? I love this feature, but if they really blocked this, i'd like to know, so i won't waste the time with this hotfix.

The link to the C Hotfix is useless as the file on AMD's site is no longer there.

It is possible to turn on MLAA on HD 4xxx cards with 10.10c, but it isn't working right. it gives only black lines across screen and it's imposible to play videos. I use this hack only to turn on Surface Format Optimisation, and it works fine.

The main problem is between DirectCompute versions. HD5000 and above use DC 5.x while HD4000 and below use DC 4.x which is slightly more limited.
