SAPPHIRE Enhances FleX Family for Eyefinity
SAPPHIRE Technology has just added two new models to its FleX family of graphics cards that can support three screens in Eyefinity mode, out of the box, without the need for DisplayPort monitors or active adapters. The SAPPHIRE HD 6870 FleX is the highest performing card with this feature, allowing gamers to use low-cost DVI monitors for all three screens. The new SAPPHIRE HD 5670 FleX delivers a cost-effective Eyefinity solution for increased productivity in tasks such as editing or business applications.
Both the SAPPHIRE HD 6870 FleX and the HD 5670 Flex can support three DVI monitors in Eyefinity mode and deliver a true SLS (Single Large Surface) work area without the need for costly active adapters. With the SAPPHIRE FleX solution, the first two monitors are connected to the DVI outputs, as usual. A third DVI monitor can be connected to the HDMI output with the passive cable adapter supplied. Thus three DVI monitors can be used in Eyefinity mode without any additional investment.With both of these graphics cards, additional monitors can be connected in Eyefinity mode, but any additional monitors do have to be DisplayPort connected.
The SAPPHIRE HD 6870 FleX has 1120 Stream processors and 1GB of the latest GDDR5 memory, which together with clock speeds of 900MHz core and 1050MHz (4.2GHz effective) for the memory, make it a high performance solution. Its efficient cooler with three 8mm heatpipes and sealed dust resisting bearings keep the card cool yet running quietly even under load.

It has 400 Stream processors and 1GB of the latest GDDR5 memory, which together with clock speeds of 775MHz core and 1000MHz (4GHz effective) for the memory deliver excellent performance and great value.
The SAPPHIRE FleX family all have on-board hardware UVD (Unified Video decoder), considerably reducing CPU load and delivering smooth decoding of Blu-ray and HD DVD content for both VC-1 and H.264 codecs, as well as Mpeg files. The UVD can decode two 1080p HD video streams simultaneously and display HD video in high quality with Windows Aero mode enabled. The HD 5670 has HDMI 1.3a with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. The HD 6870 FleX has HDMI 1.4 which additionally supports Stereoscopic output.

They should toss in 2 gb of ram though as a triple monitor system needs the extra memory since that seems what they are targeting w/ the fleX cards
doesn't any reference design radeon 6870 has 2 dvi-ports, one hdmi port and 2 mini-dp ports with at least support for 3 screens in eyefinity mode?! i'm not sure if even 4 or 5 screens is possible, but 3 definitely is (2x dvi + hdmi for instance).
even the 5k series cards have the ports to hook up at least 3 screens for over a year now (2x dvi, hdmi, dp).
and recently there is a HD6850 needing no PCIE power plug, made by a long forgotten company called "Triplex"
