Gigabyte GeForce GTX 590 Exclusive Bundle Detailed, Benchmarked

Gigabyte want to launch its GeForce GTX 590 in a big way. The company prepared a special, probably limited-edition package, which it refers to as "Exclusive Bundle". Packed in an industrial-looking toolbox, Gigabyte is including its reference-design GeForce GTX 590 3072 MB graphics card, a load of cables and accessories, and a Gigabyte GHOST M8000X gaming mouse, in its complete package (including adjustable weights). Gigabyte's package looks very well made, advertising the products inside well. It kind of makes sense to pack a ultra high-end graphics card with a high-end gaming mouse. With this, Gigabyte is looking to project the GTX 590 as more of a premium gamers' product (than something you buy and put under frozen gases right away).

Gigabyte's press deck also included some benchmark results. Testing is completely internal to the company. Gigabyte is a vendor-neutral graphics card partner (it sells both GeForce and Radeon), so these numbers can be taken at face value. According to Gigabyte, the GTX 590 rocks 3DMark Vantage at low resolutions, but the gap between it and Radeon HD 6990 closes at higher resolutions. It admits that Radeon HD 6990 is a faster graphics card overall for 3DMark 11. In game tests, GTX 590 and HD 6990 trade blows with each leading the other in different game tests. If these figures are to go by, it will be a very close and interesting battle for supremacy between the GTX 590 and HD 6990. Gigabyte's GTX 590 Exclusive Bundle is priced in China at a little under US $1,150.

Well it was expected to be slower. Every time Nvidia moves a product release to the middle or the end of the week, expect a lackluster product. However if it runs cooler and quieter and at the same time you get 3d surround, it might not be a total lemon we'll see soon.

Oh no the 590 wins in everything but the one test where it matters some-what, it lost in crysis warhead, all other test don't matter if its already over 60fps but the one test they both are under the 6990 wins.:p (don't think that will come out right)

but really they both play any game at any setting so i would just go for what ever is cheapest.

lol those were hand picked benches - not a good sign
they were all old games - a worse sign
it wins in vantage but they show the 580 beats the 6990 as well, so they used gpu physx on the cpu test - so that's not really applicable
it loses in 3dmark 11 a more recent benchmark - not a good sign for the latest and greatest from nvidia

so yeah the pr numbers look good to an untrained eye, but those of use who've been around and have setups this card should be beating know better.

It's probably clocked so low to maintain an acceptable heat/power envelope, that's the best it can do. Honestly, I'll be happy if this card is exactly 100% the speed of the HD 6990 -- I expect it to usher in a near era of anti-fanboyism, since there will no longer be any "fastest card." :p

What's funny will be the folks who spend over a grand for this and put it in a $50 case expecting a miracle, then complain that it sounds like a jet. For $1000 I could think of a lot of things to spend my money on besides that :toast: :pimp: and have a lot more fun!

Why on earth are they benching this card at 1920 x 1080 .. . . so you expect some one to have nearly nearly 1200 dollars for a video card but not enough for a monitor with a resolution greater than 1920 x 1080 .. . . . . wait what .. . . makes me skeptical about the cards performance for sure!:shadedshu

not looking promising. old games 3D MARK Vantage with physx boost. The downclocking looks like it has hurt the 590 a lot

My thoughts exactly.
As has been mentioned before, we should wait until W1zzard has done a review to see what he can crank this beast up to, as I imagine it will beat the HD6990 solidly, provided the speed increase can be had without frying the rest of the system ;)

It's looking like a competition of slight increases here and there can't wait to see W1z'z review
I hope to see Nvidia with the crown for minute
