I-O Data Intros New 20-inch Display with Hardened Glass Panel
I-O Data unveiled its latest PC display, the LCD-AD202XW-P. This 20-inch CCFL-illuminated widescreen uses a hardened glass panel that is resistant to scratches and fingerprints while continuing to have a glossy surface. With an aspect ratio of 16:9, the panel features a native resolution of 1600x900 pixels, 250 cd/m² maximum brightness, 1,000:1 contrast ratio, and response time of 5 ms. It takes input from DVI and D-Sub connectors. Other features include an Eco Mode that can bring about power savings of up to 42%; and 1W stereo speakers. Backed by a 3 year warranty, the I-O Data LCD-AD202XW-P is priced at $495.

My monitor has no glass at all, and I prefer it wholeheartedly.
I can't think of anything that would be thwarted by the glass but wouldn't leave a mark that would make using the monitor afterwards painstaking.
Actually, I can't think of anything that would be thwarted by the glass..
Also such screens are useful for public places like public libraries, info terminals etc where you just need screen durability because you never know which idiot will physically abuse the screen.
