MW3 Cheaters: 1600 Banned And Counting

In news, that will be sweet music to the ears of honest gamers, InfinityWard has been busily banning cheaters who exploit loopholes and coding errors in the game to get one over others. The figure is currently around the 1600 mark and rising, as InfinityWard's community man Robert Bowling posted on Twitter: Any attempt to cheat, hack, or glitch in #MW3 will not be tolerated. 1600+ bans issued. Updates in works. Please cont. to report offenders. He then added: We are doing mass bans on PC as well while we work on updates. He has promised that a hot fix is in the works for multiple glitches that have been reported.

Now, while cheating is wrong, it can also be an incredibly fun, but guilty pleasure. So, is it really all the cheater's fault, when opportunities like this are laid at there feet? It's like giving someone a cake and telling them not to eat it. Perhaps the program code should have been more bug free in the first place, too?

If people dont like Qubit's news posts and dont think the news is post worthy on the front page someone should open a thread in the "Comments & Feedback" sub forum to legitimately make a complaint and or discuss the issue, rather than mention the same stuff every news post.

Always someone out there who wants to take the path of least resistance, ie the easy way, instead of just practicing to get better, i dont blame them for banning folks, cheat=weak character and poor self esteem.

thanx for the post, quite funny ,hahaha, damn cheaters again!

[pls forgive off topic rant] GIVE THE BASHING A REST PLS, ITS TIRING AND BORING!

To me BTA's news is like your daily Chronicle straight forward and clean cut to the point

While qubit's news is is like the Sunday News paper which has the trashy chick on the front page and loaded with adult personals in the back.

I like reading both :)

yes???

yes, this thread is TPU appropriate.
TPU has always been about games and technology.

yes, exploits exist in all games.
no game will ever be 100% bug free.
If you like 'cheating' then by all means... exploit exploit exploit!
You own the game so play it as you like! SINGLE PLAYER ONLY!!!!

yes, cheating in multiplayer is LAME!
if you don't have the skills to play fair...
then please find another hobby suitable to your skill level...
like 'cow tipping' or 'WoW'. :nutkick:

Cheating, Hacking, Exploiting.

Its the reason why BF3 and some other games are not moddable anymore and now depend SOLELY on dedicated servers especially the ones that needs a client to play online(steam, battlelog)

If there happens to be an earthquake or disaster that destroys the whole battlelog servers. You cant play online anymore. Not even LAN.

About modding, modding multiplayer games is very popular. Counter Strike continued Half-Life's Life. Desert Combat Mod led to BF2. DotA immortalized Warcraft III.

Hacking and Cheating in games along with piracy and greedy corporations are slowly destroying the fun in multiplayer games and games in general.

God I love those days when multiplayer in games are handled by the game itself. Where you can play real LAN. every game had hundreds of mods available. games are not rushed and have less bugs because following up patches are not as easy as today.

Today hacking is becoming more easier and more easier because of script kiddies and the programs available and kids wanting to fool themselves that they are better than others so they just hack and cheat until they got banhammered at which point they will buy another copy of the game/move to another game and continue cheating.

Many PC Games today are trying to imitate Consoles when it comes to multiplayer.

I strongly disagree with this statement. there IS no imitating going on. infact. Most major releases in the last 10years have been Console ports.

Its not that PC games are imitating console games, but they just 'are' console games full stop.

Well may i have said it in a wrong way. but what i meant is that they are just console ports and I agree with you. consoles dominate over PC gaming so consoles are always the lead platform. which sucks. :)

PC gaming suffers because of consoles. they are like bottlenecking the development of newer games because if they just release it on the PC. or port them to consoles after. It would cost more. and PC gamers tend to P2P stuff so it would get them no money. And making consoles every year is a bad idea.

I wonder what type of games really i7s and quad fired video cards can really handle if they were really developed to be ran by these from the start. maybe its time for a new console?

qubitMy source CVG figured it was and so did PC Mag, who also saw fit to cover CVG's story. That's two major publications. Does that convince you?

And yes, tigger is right, if you don't think it's worthy, then just ignore thread, but don't crap it. There's a zillion other threads on TPU for you to participate in.
That's PC mag, and your source.

TPU was in a news league of its own.

Till this shit started showing up.

It can be considered "news"

But spam news in my opinion.

Real news, would be the 3-5 other MW3 post you put up, all in 1 news headline, without the bullshit put into every word, and clarified even more then practically name calling.....

But, I have no ground nor rep, did not mean any negative assumptions.

More personal attacks.

What erocker said below in the other thread that you stuck your oar in (now thankfully deleted) also applies here and to any other thread. Please be civil and courteous. Thankyou.
erockerI unfortunately have had to remove a lot of posts in this thread. I'll remind everyone to stay on topic and remain civil with one another. There is a place here, where you can post your comments and feedback for techPowerUp. Use that link, not this thread.

Runs back to bf3,

There are more then 1600 hackers going about,

1600, out of 10+ million possible players.

Yeah, +1 and there's more signing up every day, since it's so popular. :shadedshu Do you think this is the tip of the iceberg? I have no idea.

Personally if you look at the leader boards, (@ least on ps3) there are 20-50 people that obviously have shady stats.
Already practically 10th prestige, They should have been ready for this from the get-go.

There not stepping the foot down hard enough, either because they want more profit, or because they do not want to assume a bad name abusing the ban hammer. Which all comes down to profit.
