Google+ Said to Have Passed 62 Million Users

According to Paul Allen, the self-proclaimed 'unofficial statistician' of Google+, Google's social project continued to see solid, double-digit growth in December, and managed to surpass 62 million users just after Christmas.

Given the current (estimated) sign-up rate of 625,000 per day (as a comparison, Andy Rubin confirmed about a week ago that Android as a platform has 700,000 activations/day), Google+ can reach 100 million users by the end of February (2012). But apparently this is just the tip of the sign-up iceberg…

"I expect the growth to continue to accelerate however. Google can continue to integrate Google+ into its other products and word of mouth will continue to build," says Paul Allen on a public Google+ post. "Based on the accelerated growth I'm seeing and all the dials and levers Google can still utilize, and the developer ecosystem that will be developed, I predict that 2012 is going to be a breakout year for Google+ and that it will end next year with more than 400 million users."

400 million users one year from now would certainly be a big achievement for Google+, but don't forget, this is an estimate (guesstimate), and 2012 could even spell trouble for Google's network. What's your take on Google+ - yay, or nay?

And the single thing that helps to grow google+ the most is ???? Facebook.

The more Facebook f-up, fails with security, blocks anyone form adding anyone they know or the mother of his children as a friend/wife, adds garbage features and makes the user interface user NON friendly, does not fix the apps or app interface, missing translations feature that is only there on the 1st new language day instead of default user language is USA english so every other language needs a translate button, the more google+ and the 27000 other social networks will get facebook deserters.

@OP they expect to reach 400m user next year. The NSA never thought their black-ops backed Facebook gimmick would bite them this hard in the a*** :rockout:

I think the Google + is being fueled mostly by the Android smart phones as the app install for Google+ is just screaming to be installed from the market place.

not-so supermod
come to google+ we has free video conferencing too...lol

If anything I find it to be a cleaner look at social media, google+ is more of a stripped to the necessities IM/VOIP/Social Media.

anyone want a bet that google+ will fail? features dont count for shit, people go where their friends go, people stay where their friends stay. the amount of users google have are that many because people who are into tech have joined so in essence they are saturated with curious users and not actual users. those numbers are deceiving, compare that number to the number of ACTIVE USERS :)
