NVIDIA Outs Free 2 Play Bundle with GeForce GTX GPUs

AMD's Never Settle Reloaded may have ruffled a few feathers at NVIDIA, which responded with a game deal of its own. Although not featuring some of the biggest AAA titles of the season, such as Crysis 3, Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider (2013), or DmC Devil May Cry; it gives buyers of new GeForce GTX graphics cards $75~$150 worth in-game currency in three of the biggest free-to-play online multiplayer titles, Planetside 2, Hawken, and World of Tanks.

Buyers of GeForce GTX 650 and GTX 650 Ti get US $25 worth in-game currency in each of the three above mentioned titles, totaling a $75 value; while buyers of GeForce GTX 660 and above (GTX 660 Ti, GTX 670, GTX 680, GTX 690) get $50 worth in-game currency, totaling $150. Although the games are free-to-play, an in-game currency is used for players to purchase high-quality equipment or consumables. The offer is available in all of NVIDIA's key market regions, including North America, EMEAI (Europe, Middle East, Africa, India), and Asia.

They are far from "crap games" I play all but tanks on a regular basis, but I do still play tanks on an occasion.

... Gee, way to go nVidia. I'm pretty sure people will choose this bundle over what AMD is giving out. My next graphics card might be AMD if nVidia doesn't step its game up, and i'm a nVidia fan boy. Lets hope the 780 makes up for this.

Ummmm I don't know how to respond except for wut?

AAA full release games or cash for Free to Play games (which won't even buy you everything in the game)

I guess you just can't read or have a different set of values than other gamers.

To be honest, if I was in the market for a new card, AMD's offer would be much more enticing than nVidia's...

The full AAA games bundled w/ AMD cards are just a lot more attractive than any credit towards a F2P game, but I guess it all depends on whether ppl who are in the market for an upgrade already play these F2P games or not...

The point is, decisions to buy hardware should be driven by who offers a better product, not who packages the most random crap with it. Having DmC won't make an HD7950 outperform a GTX660Ti, so it's largely irrelevant. I just find it humorous that people take it as some indication of the quality of the company or product. The games Nvidia is offering currency for are very popular. Planetside 2 and World of Tanks already have a ton of players, and are doing very well under the F2P model, so I guarantee that $75-150 in currency for a game people already love and play, is just as valuable as a newer game in their mind.

Not very difficult to parse, really.
Both vendors, rather than drop prices are looking to boost sales by adding value with add-ons.
One vendor is offering AAA titles, one is offering credit for in-game transaction. One vendor is being hailed for their addition, one is being pilloried.
Rather than basing a view upon the add-ons, you are basing your view upon relative merit of one vendor as measured against the competitor...of course that then opens up the can of worms known as perceived value in general.

I'd also note that, the bundle Nv is adding to the cards seems an addition to the game bundles specific vendors are offering (Zotac's AC bundle, EVGA's Borderlands 2 etc.)

It's pretty obvious why nvidia is/should get blasted. The cards cost more, they make a higher profit margin and then they provide a nearly worthless bundle.

Don't pretend for a second that nvidia is somehow being unfairly bashed when AMD is the go to company for getting trash talked in about 50% of threads. Give me a Fin break.

I'm not targeting anyone on here (so far) except xenocide :P

AMD are bashed for their CPU line around here, and their poor drivers in the GPU's. On the other hand Nvidia is bashed for being "severely overpriced". I just don't think people should stop pretending bundling a game or two with a Graphics Card makes it a better product. Honestly, they could give me 5 brand new games and I probably wouldn't buy an AMD card this generation (I almost bought a 7970 before I got my 670) until they fix the frame latency and poor driver support problems that have plagued them for several generations now (and affected me through an X800, HD4870, and HD5850).

I'd rather buy a 7850 and get 2 games that have a $120 price tag (combined) and find out the games suck, or not, not having spent $120 rather than getting free stuff for free stuff...

They might aswell start bundling

FREE OXYGEN with every GeForce GTX

It does make Nvidia look cheap. Seriously couldnt they team up with a much better brand Star Wars has a F2P or other MMO which usually are free 2 play.

They been hawken Hawken since last years E3 (They use it on every presentention since then) so they arent even try'n with the bundle. Its like marketing team was so lazy they said, "Eh we've been promoting this game since last year just throw it in so it seams like there is more."

You're not getting free stuff for free. The game is free, but there are things (i.e. 'gold' in World of Tanks) that aren't free, unless you win them in giveaways/raffles, from winning in events (like Last Tank Standing), from winning tournaments (Rumble/Showdown), or from the income of your clan's land in Clan Wars (if clan leadership decides to distribute it among its members).

I'm guessing for World of Tanks at least you'll probably get 12,000 gold (which is $49.95 actually) for that $50. I'm just wondering about the $25 though, you'll probably get it as 4,700 gold ($19.95) plus 1,100 gold ($4.95).

Are you seriously suggesting that 'Star Wars' is a much better brand as a F2P? Do Star Wars have dedicated servers for South Korea (relatively 'young' though), China (reaching 100k now), and several for Russia (peaks at around 110k users), as well as EU, NA, and SEA servers?

I dont play, Yes its a better brand.

You get side promoted by anything Disney does so you dont waste that much $ in promotion. Oh yeah guess what you milk it given every 2-5yr Disney has a movie given the MMO last that long with user base.
Toys and Cartoons are on every week, etc..

So cross promotion your getting more then what you put in.

Oh yeah its a F2P :slap: Get Neon Green Nvidia super duper Sith or Jedi lightsabers and what ever currency is in game.

There probably more populated games out there but brand wise its globably recognized. If there isnt use it to your advantage Nvidia GRID duh!!!. There doing it now with Hawken.

There try'n to attract new buyers. So go out at a Mall (Apple and Windows Stores) and ask people have you heard of Hawken. They'll probably say, "Is it a bird?" with a bewildered look on there face.

Ask them if they heard of StarWars and even a family with kids most likely have a reaction to it.

The only issue I see was securing a license for StarWars but since they dont have AAA titles in there bundle and only F2P. It goes back to being cheap.:)

Like I said Free Stuff (currency-that you normally pay for) for Free Stuff (F2P Games)
Look you can play the F2P for free as they are free to play and decide if you like them but the games AMD is giving away cost $60 each on STEAM...

I'd rather have the games that cost money to try out than have currency for free games that I can try out anytime for FREE.

This However is a good deal for someone like yourself or James888 because you know you like the games...but either way I'd still rather have the games that cost money because they might suck whereas the F2P games can suck all they want when they are free.

Star Wars is NOT F2P. Or if you think that entering the game and just running around not being able to do anything without (expensive) payed unlocks is F2P...Common, you even have to pay to unlock the interface toolbars, lol.

AMD offers better value for crunchers (BOINC) right now. I have found as well that games run pretty smooth with my 7970's as it did with my 580's.
Nvidia GPU's can not even come close to the crunching power of AMD GPU's:) Granted not all are into crunching, but some of us are:toast:
Personally I do not care about game bundles offered with either vendor...
