You'd get neck ache from having to move your head up and down so much.
It's the reason I keep my old 5:4 '17 screen with portrait mode, it's the perfect size for reading such stuff.
Maybe $1,500, i.e. a similar price point as we have been suffering since the 2560 x 1600 30"s came out first. I'm really hoping the 4k TVs will appear soon and maybe some bright company will put DP connectors on them and then they sell in volume so the price drops from the stratosphere in a reasonable time frame. I can dream!
I can't imagine how much problems you will have when no one will support that resolution. Besides scaling, prepare for a lot of black space. The $400 premium over a cheap 27" screen gives you
1. 1440p instead of 1080p
2. IPS
3. 350 brightness instead of typical 250-300
4. 178 degrees viewing instead of typical 170
5. Pivot and tilt.
While i don't think all that is worth $686. I would not mind paying $500-550 for something like this as long as the quality is there. I also hope it is calibrated right instead of me spending more time or money calibrating it myself.
