EK Adds Gold Plated EK-Supremacy Water Block to the Lineup

EK Water Blocks, Ljubljana based premium water cooling gear manufacturer, is proud to introduce the latest member of EK-Supremacy line of flagship performance universal CPU water blocks - the gold plated variant EK-Supremacy Clean CSQ - Gold.

This gold plated variant is a perfect companion for the latest generation of black 'n gold themed ASUS, ASRock and ECS motherboards and also features gold-plated PreciseMount mounting mechanism to perfectly match this two-tone theme. Just like any other EK-Supremacy series water block it supports all current Intel- as well as AMD socket type motherboards out-of-the-box.
EK-Supremacy Clean CSQ - Gold comes with MSRP of 89,95€ (incl. VAT) and is readily available for purchase through EK Webshop and Partner Reseller Network.

About EK-Supremacy:
EK-Supremacy is a result of round clock development, years of experience and rigorous testing. As a new EK flagship this product again combines top hydraulic and thermal performance. It is an universal CPU water block that fits all modern CPU sockets and comes with an universal mounting mechanism that offers error-preventing, tool-less installation. The result is a perfect installation which results in perfect performance every time. EK-Supremacy is truly the best product for performance seeking enthusiasts.

The EK-Supremacy cooling engine uses similar, yet refined - as per needs of modern microprocessors - fin design as its ancestor. EK-Supremacy is the first CPU water block on the market which has been optimized for every modern CPU platform independently with the use of different type of jet plates to ensure the best contact with the CPU integrated heat spreader (IHS). These jet plates of different shape and thickness are enclosed with the product.

If correct, that's a pretty nice price for a gold plated block. :)

gold plated copper block. couldn't the temp decrease be due to the better flow. so the gold is purely aesthetics?

I been thinking of a different block, and a gold/black themed intel mod. looks good!
- better hydraulic performance: due to improved design up to 20% higher flow compared to EK-Supreme HF
- better cooling performance: up to 2°C lower CPU temperatures compared to EK-Supreme HF

No, you lap it off to flatten the block. :nutkick:

The fins will be so full of gunk in no time you will not be seeing the gold shine for long either.

yea gold plated is pointless to me on IHS side LOL

but the water side I was interested but if it changes colour, ill pass!

IIRC gold has higher thermal conductivity than copper or aluminium.

I know but still...

Another thing I can think of is oxidation.

First waterblock of mine was a a gold plated Koolance. Looked brand spanking new after 4 years of use. Gold simply does not oxidize, even in saltwater. Very, very inert.

silver has better thermal conductivity than gold. so yes this is aesthetics.
but i think the thermal contact resistance will be lower than that of cu-h20

Silver tarnishes, gold doesn't.

Distilled water will not be so distilled after a few months in the loop.

No, it hasn't.

Silver - 429
Copper - 401
Gold - 318

This is just aesthetics. It has no advantage compared to nickel plating. The only advantages of plated block is corrosion resistance.

Yea and no. The gold plating virtually guarantees no tarnish or reactivity with anything in the loop. The layer is so thin that thermal conductivity is a non-issue. It also gives a mirror finish, no pits, thought the base is only as flat as the substrate.

Indeed, gold does look good.

indeed. this is like fake jewellery!
and yes the insides could have been shinier. but as you said it can be only as fine as the substrate.

90£ for a piece of kit that in the end will make NO difference, other than to bolster ones vanity anyhow. Pointless.

There were days when we could purchase blocks made of silver. They actually made a difference. They didn't sell very many.

Wrong button... Even @ 90€ it's still pointless. When you buy it, install it, and run it for a year can i be the first to see the plating flaking off and all tarnished? Pretty please?

Good for you! Like i said before; If you actually want to make a difference, use a silver block.

Gold doesn't really flake off that easy though, see: gilded old buildings. Survives acid rain and other rubbish just fine. I am pretty sure it can take a bit of distilled water.

Silver block tarnishes, and will be a pain to clean. Gold doesn't.

The plating quality depends solely on the process/operator, and going by EKs history...

Show me a silver block tarnished on the inside. Shit, show me a silver block!
