Plextor Announces Worldwide Release of M6e PCI Express SSD

Plextor, a leading developer of high-performance digital storage technology, announces the worldwide availability of the M6e PCIe SSD, the first SSD specifically designed to meet the demanding requirements of the gaming community. The M6e will be available exclusively at NewEgg from April 7 through April 13.

The ultimate PC upgrade, the M6e delivers faster boot up speeds, shorter application load times, and improved system responsiveness for the ultimate performance. Power users can experience speeds up to 50% faster compared to regular SATA-based SSDs.
With convenient Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI) support, Plextor M6e PCIe owners get to experience the speed of a high-performance SSD without the need to load additional drivers. Compatibility with legacy BIOS allows the M6e to be used with existing gaming rigs for flexibility. Alternatively selecting the UEFI boot mode for motherboards with UEFI provides incredibly fast start-up times.

The Plextor M6e PCIe SSD is available in 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB capacities. Pick yours up at NewEgg USA during exclusivity week!

Indeed. I think once Z97/X99 with onboard M.2 connectors hit we'll be seeing quite a few more M.2 SSDs.

Ferrum Masteroh damn, make it smaller.... it looks ugly...
My thought exactly, why does the PCB need to be so huge when it's so bare?

You can get the 256GB here in the UK for around £200 which is a rip-off as a 250GB SSD costs about £85 and isn't much slower (RAID 0 SSD would be cheaper and faster).

Also you can pick up a Crucial M500 240GB M.2 for £90 and an adapter for £10. Upgrade to Z97 and throw the adapter in the draw and no warranty voided (the Plextor has a warranty void strip).

Except that the Crucial M500 m.2 is just as fast as a regular SSD. This really is for early adopters, laptops and speed freaks...

Really, since when do we starve for such speeds, better yet where do we need it? Normal SSD 500mb/s is still overkill imo, nvm 1gb/s

Don't forget us neat freaks! Whether M.2 or PCIe, won't ever have to plan cable routing and mounting again.
