Microsoft achieves goal of 10 million Xbox360s shipped

Microsoft has officially sold 10.4 million Xbox360 consoles to retail stores, which is over 400,000 consoles more than they expected to sell. Microsoft is expected to announce this tomorrow night, along with their plans for "IPTV", or Internet Protocol TeleVision. Whether or not Microsoft plans on becoming a provider of IPTV, only time will tell. However, the plans for IPTV coincide very nicely with the new Xbox 360 "Zephyr", which has a 120GB hard drive for storing all that television, and an HDMI port for acting like a set top box.

that's slick advertising isn't it? Notice they didn't say "MS has officially sold 10.4 million working Xbox360 consoles..."

While I'm not an x360 fan, I'm pretty impressed that Microsoft has strategically overtaken SONY in the current console gen race. This is NOT what we predicted 1 year ago. Well done MS, bad luck SONY.

Very true. Sony has been hurting since 2001. If ps3 doesnt cut it soon, theyre gone. And the battery recall mess.. :shadedshu

I have two Xbox360s. 1 of them broke, and MS replaced it. The other one I broke - MS is replacing it. Now my replacement from my first one broke, and MS replacing it as well.

I don't really care that my consoles keep breaking because they are so much damn fun, it's all worth it~!!!!!!!! GO 360!!!

@mout, thats a great tip for SONY! They could double their numbers by making them twice as faulty. QED

i think it is safe to say with the ridiculos marketing strategy sony has addopted has pritty much backfired on them and no doubt these sales for M$ are an indicator of that. The only hope sony has now if the ps3 is highly pirateable otherwise they will struggle for sales after the initial burst when released in europe.
