NVIDIA Releases the GeForce 381.89 Game Ready Drivers

NVIDIA today has released another one on their "Game Ready" driver suite releases. This one brings with it support for the PC-exclusive Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III and Heroes of the Storm 2.0, as well as for Batman: Arkham VR, Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality, and Wilson's Heart.

The driver also comes with a small list of fixed issues, as per the release notes:
  • [Sniper Elite 3]: The game crashes.
  • [Notebook][eDP panel]: Blue-screen (code 3B) occurs followed by the Recovery screen during software un-bundling process.
  • [GeForce GTX 1060]: Blue-screen crash occurs pointing to driver (Nvlddmkm.sys) after the system reboots from sleep mode.
  • GPU idling voltage has increased.

Idk which card were affected, but this is a fix for a previous bug that increased the voltage while idling. Probably means squat for all but a handful of laptops.

You're supposed to point your finger, this is the age of touch-enabled devices! N00b :D

Edit: DX12 optimizations are mentioned in the release notes, but idk if they're specific to this release o the entire 381 branch.

This is garbage. The current driver release scheme is to release a new driver each time 2 or 3 new games are released. How about older games? Why isn't there a proper optimization with each driver anymore?? I can run just fine, and with the same fps, all of my games with 1 years old driver without any issue....

New drivers support new games, yet old games run just fine too, what is the problem? It's been this way since forever.

After updating my 1070 decreased idle voltage from 0.687 V to 0.650 V. Yeah that must be for laptops....

Laptop 1060, just installed it to compare.

0.744V on both this and the previous driver.

i've seen flickering squares and had black screen crashes on occasion in games with low load (MP games where other people lagged etc) so i wonder if this'll make a difference

Maybe drivers are "fully" optimized. Maybe a engine issue. What older games need optimization

Mass Effect Andromeda? Assassin's Creed Syndicate? Battlefield 1? There was absolutely no performance increase after releasing only 1 driver to support them. And Andromeda runs like crap on a 1080 on 1440p....

Very poor wording on their part. They fixed an issue with increased voltage at idle (meaning they lowered it). It was a bug in the previous driver.

Ok.. From where did you get this info if I may ask so?

Info is from:

Voltage increased at idle on the previous driver ONLY. It's now been returned to original normal levels.

And: NVIDIA subreddit. And NVIDIA's own driver notes. If you actually read them you can see where their poor word choice enters into the fray:
Driver Fixes (For full list of fixes please check out release notes)
  • [Sniper Elite 3]: The game crashes. [1880113]
  • [Notebook][eDP panel]: Blue-screen (code 3B) occurs followe by the Recovery screen during software unbundling process. [1900432]
  • [GeForce GTX 1060]: Blue-screen crash occurs pointing to driver (Nvlddmkm.sys) after the system reboots from sleep mode. [1814559]
  • GPU idling voltage has increased. [1904229] -- (My Note: They FIXED GPU Idling voltage that had increased. )

In the download section of the driver I think there is an error about the information where it incorrectly mentions the compatibility with the operating system
