Red Dead Redemption 2 Delayed, Will Hit Platforms October 26th 2018

Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption 2 has just seen an announced delay on its launch window. Previously slated for a Spring 2018 release, the sequel to Rockstar's famed, highly successful western Red Dead Redemption thus sees a push back from its previously planned calendar release. Gamers who expected to pick up a game that might tide them over through the summer now see their options reduced - tangibly so.

In a blog post this morning, Rockstar attributed the decision towards a "more polish is needed" scenario, which really isn't all that unexpected, considering the scale the game is expected to have. Release dates were something sacred, back in the days; not so much nowadays, as the general consensus seems to be that it's better late and working, than now and broken. To somewhat mend users' broken hearts, Rockstar also released some screenshots alongside the announcement, as if taunting players with that which they now know will take them longer to experience.

Not the thing i wanted to here . Played the first game on ps3 back then and its a great game.

But better wait on something great than do as ubisoft is so good at: releasing what feels like unfinished games full of bugs to great annoyment for us end users.

But still october feels like a long time for something i have waited for since red 2 first got published.

Does it Windows? If it doesn't Windows, Rockstar gets shame. I would have bought all of them if they were on my platform of choice. ;)

That doesn't mean T2 wouldn't abuse their base and release it on consoles first and PCs later to harvest second sales.
Its not even PS4P and XBOXOX. That's second wave. We're getting the last pass with this one

Full GTA V-like nightmare again. F'ing snakes

Anticipation rising...

I hope it sells well and Rockstar is convinced they should remaster the older ones.

Because they want to focus on consoles to pass Microsoft/Sony validation before focusing on the PC port which only has to pass their own validations. Trying to make the game run smoothly on as many hardware combinations as possible while hardening the online elements against cheaters is much more difficult.

Indie developers tend to start with PC because they can cheaply get feedback from alphas and betas. AAA publishers tend to start with consoles because they don't want public feedback because it derails the marketing hypetrain.

Where did they announce it is on PC? As much as I want it to come to PC, they haven't said anything. Just that mini-quest in GTA Online where you get the revolver skin for RDR3. This is most likely connected to your socialclub account so if you get RDR3 on console you will still get the skin.

Yes, I'm calling it RDR3. It went - Red Dead Revolver(RDR) - Red Dead Redemption(RED1) - Red Dead Redemption 2(RED2).
If we it call it RDR2 that's just saying RED1 to me or either a game that never existed which is just really RED1, the 2nd game.
I see RED2 as Redemption 2.

I have never seen anything official about RDR 2 and PC.

But you can bet that they will launch it after a year or so and get hold of yet another batch of millions of sales.

I can not find a confirmation either. This really bugs me, because I know I heard/read it several years ago. Now, we just have Take 2 saying all options are open. Oh well.

Hopefully, this means they're delaying it to improve it on PC before releasing on all platforms simultaneously. "Because the PC version need a little more time in the oven, we're delaying the game on all platforms. Enjoy your Spring and Summer!"

Awesome, delayied, no really it's a good thing. Hope they do good on the story as online is most likley be a GTA like thing which i cannot say i am all that in to.

Well in to but has to many kids\people who want to be just assholes than help the community. Which is some thing Rockstar don't seem to care about as they are making millions doing it.

The delays on GTA V PC haven't hurt the game, I'm really not sure why people are bothered

To be honest, I only finished the first one.. loved it and instantly bought RDR when that came out, but somehow wasn't in the mood like I thought I'd be... and still just have it lying around for a rainy day. It'd be cool to see both remastered though, as I only have console copies (I think that's all there is?). Good on Rockstar for delaying this one though.

I expect at least 2 more delays.
Judging Rockstar's past that would mean that the game is gonna be lit.

Doubt it, since RDR2 is made by the same studio as RDR1 and they never made a PC game in the past.

I thought the studio was Rockstar San Diego? They made Midnight Club II, L.A. Noire, Max Payne 3, all on PC.

They're going to milk it first on the consoles, for year or two

L.A. Noire was made in Australia. There was a huge falling out between Rockstar and the studio. I think the studio got shuttered.

This means I can post-pone my PS4 purchase. I'll wait, the performance of first RDR was horrible, FPS drops everywhere.
