Konami Charges $10 for a Second Save Slot in Metal Gear Survive

Metal Gear Survive like many other games requires the player to create a character in order to start the single-player campaign or play online. Everything is fine up to this point. However, only the first save slot in Metal Gear Survive is free as consequent save slots will cost a small fee. For example, players who want to do a second playthrough and keep their existing character will have to pay Konami for a second save slot. Each new save slot costs 1000 Survival coins. Therefore, players will have to spend at least $10 to buy 1150 Survival coins to purchase a save slot. The concept certainly isn't new as many online multiplayer games charge players for creating a second character. It's somewhat justifiable since you're technically paying for additional storage on their servers. But in Konami's case, it's just outright wrong to charge players for storing an extra save file on their own hard drive or SSD.

It would be interesting when you can get the game with that price in the future.

TotallyI'm not trying to justify their actions, it is within their rights to do. Just as it is within my right to not spend money on it. I'm not going to lose sleep on something, I do not intend to spend a dime on. Talking trash about a company is the same as praising them keeps their name from being forgotten. The way I see it is the default number of save slots are not enough and that is not enough. Thus I would never spend money on the game no matter how good it is (actually if it was good I could reason with you guys). So what I'm ultimately puzzled about and point is that people spent $60 on a shit game and are complaining about a $10 save slot and not the fact that there is only one save slot. Watching gameplay footage, Konami is doing anyone who bought the game a service, no one should ever suffer a second play through.
Y'know what, I like how you think about this.

But here's the question: what if that save slot restriction would have stood in the way of a great game and product? Would it then suddenly be OK or would you take the one slot for granted and play it regardless? Or would you still boycot the game... Because for many people that is the balancing act they struggle with.

john_I wonder. If there was NO piracy, would Konami be giving this extra save slot for free? I mean, if we consider what companies say about how much money they are losing from piracy, they could be making 5-10 times more money from the game sales alone. Because everyone who downloads would definitely buy the game at it's full price. Right? So they wouldn't have to charge extra for things like that.
Or would they be asking for $20 knowing that people have NO alternatives?
People have no alternatives to food and air. For everything else, we're good ;)

GoldenXSince when calling a greedy company greedy is racist? It's a greedy company in Japan, it's a typical japanese greedy company.
Man this new trend of being offended...

Valantara) This isn't true. Japanese products aren't more expensive than comparable counterparts in most markets. Is Sony particularly expensive? Nope, not at all. Can you name me a single product category where they're significantly more expensive than the competition?
All of the stuff that Sony makes?? Starting with callous prices on TVs, monitors, multimedia stuff and all of the rest of electronics compared to manufacturers from other countries.

Seriously? Sony TVs are no more expensive than competing brands (although they are rarely the best at their price points, they're by no means overpriced). Sony cameras are generally premium cameras, but no more expensive than comparable options - and often there are no comparable options due to their tech prowess, yet they're still priced close to the closest competitors (such as the Sony A7 lineup compared to the Canon 5D series or similar). Their Vaio lineup, back when they owned it, spanned the entire price range from cheapo crap to ultra-premium ultrabooks-before-they-were-a-thing (even with external graphics!), and roughly matched competitors' prices - again, to the extent that they had competitors. Sony monitors? You mean videography/video production monitors (seeing how they don't make PC monitors outside of these)? They're generally comparable to the competition. The same goes for their AV and Hi-Fi equipment - they main difference there might be that Sony has less of the high-end placebo reputation of smaller western outfits.

Market differences, here Sony things are the most expensive alongside Apple.

natr0n, you made my day man. If I wasn't at work, I would throw down a shot after reading this.

Good to know that logic can still prevail in a world full of lies and ignorance which leaves us with smart-dumbies at best.

Sure I'll pay $10 for Save Slots. So long as they give the game away FREE of charge.
