NVIDIA AIB Manli: GA104-400 Registered, GeForce GTX 2070 and 2080 Listed

There's just no quieting the rumor mill. It's like we're walking through a field that's made entirely of small pieces of stone that we inadvertently kick - and under every stone, another tidbit, another speculation, another pointer - a veritable breadcrumb trail that's getting more and more convoluted. Even as we were getting sort of decided in regards to NVIDIA's next-generation hardware and its nomenclature and model number - 1100 series - we now have two distinct sources and reports popping one right after the other that point to a 2000 series - and that also suggests Ampere might be in the cards for the next-gen product after all.

Case in point: NVIDIA AIB Manli Technology Group has registered at portal.eaeunion.org (with the Eurasian Economic Union) product listings that include references to some NVIDIA GA104 and GA104-400 products, as well as nomenclature for NVIDIA's next-gen cards as being GTX 2070 and GTX 2080. Granted, this could be a registration for future, future products, but it's very unlikely. The jury is still out on this leak, but if ever the carousel will stop spinning, we don't know it.

They can't possibly call them 2080. 1180 sounds much better than 2080.

I think they should just name them all after animals... or hookers.

Good timing, It's been two years waiting for the competition to turn up.

Two years since GP102 launched, two years waiting for shitty competiton, we all feel his pain.

What if, it is both true, 11 series for gaming, 20 series for hpc, deep learning, etc?

qubit20xx naming? No way, that's just wrong. It should be 11xx to follow on logically. Maybe it's marketing screwing it up again.
I've been saying for months it'll be the 20 series :p

Like I've said, you can't unlearn 20 years of history from consumers. GTX 1180 would be a new model from GTX 1080 generation. GTX 2080 would be a whole new series. If you want to sell shit, you need bigger numbers. Because as we all know, bigger numbers are always better. More memory, more frequency, more cores, more version number. It's just always that way.

TotallyApplying occams razor. I believe those are typos because 1070 and 1080 are missing from the list and would appear where the 2070 and 2080 are on the list.
That's not Occam's razor, it's called logic.

In this case names do matter for longevity, they have perfect naming. if they go by 1000s those idiots will have to find a new naming scheme in 8 years instead of 80, making the same crap storm as intel and amd (naming wise).
Thats the only reason why i care. The database would be an even bigger mess xD

I'd love to look back on this time period from 80 years in the future! If only...

It would all look so quaint. I'll bet computers will have a direct neural link by then and the concept on an enthusiast desktop PC will have disappeared completely. Graphics and AI might be indistinguishable from real life. Or we'll all be killed off by global warming instead, lol.

Oh and qubit will have 200K posts on TPU.

Someone is trolling bigtime, Manli:
Dear all,

This is ---- from Manli’s marketing team. First of all, thanks for all your support MANLI !! About the product registration on EEC, it’s not officially applied or provided by Manli. We are still investigating at the moment. It is not the real information, we are still checking where the information from and who provided.

Thanks for your cooperation!!

Best Regards,
Does they even sell on EEC, I thought there were only Zotac and Inno3D here(the other two PC Partner brands). And Manli being mainly on Asia.

Edit: Never mind EEC is Eurasian economic community. I thought it was EU(EEC was the former EU from 58 to 93).

Hey guys, I thought about that; why don't they call it 1280 or 3080? they might skip a series because of how long the 10xx series has been there. a bit like the 800 series that never seen the daylight (except in notebooks if I remember correctly).
