R600 to get WHQL first
The Inquirer reports that ATI/AMD's R600 will win the "WHQL race" - both the hardware, as well as the necessary "WHQL certified" driver is due on CeBIT's eve - that is March 14th, to be exact. The drivers will support single as well as CrossFire setups for all ATI cards including the R600 generation, for both Windows XP and Vista. It is not certain if DX10 drivers for 64-bit operating systems will be out at the same time, but AMD has done its best so that the driver support will be second to none. AMD now has a levy over Nvidia measured in weeks - WHQL SLI driver for DirectX 10 or 64-bit Vista isn't expected until April - which is pretty sad. Nvidia has been shipping G80, or GeForce 8800 for almost six months now, and AMD will in the end ship more Vista WHQL certified dual-GPU systems than a six-month shipping product from their competitor. It is also important to note that the driver not only includes support for the Radeon X2900 series, but also low-end and mainstream parts under code-names RV610 and RV630, or Radeon X2200 and X2400.

truely sad 6 months out and STILL NO DRIVER SUPPORT FOR VISTA, and no decent driver support at all from what i have seen
why cant nvidia seem to not suck ?
at this rate nvidia is going to loose massive market share to amdti, i can see alot of nvidia 8800 owners ebaying their cards and buying amdti x2800/2900 cards in the neer future, guess thats good for people on xp who want another card for SLI, ROFL.....HAHAHAHA
1./ The card isn't actually DX10, but DX9.9 (implenting a lot, but not all of the DX10 features... and therefore needing ALOT of software workarounds), or
2./ The GPU microcode/tape out has ERRORS in the DX10 execution units. And nVidia are desperately trying to find software workarounds.
Either way, pwned
I don't see why everyone hates these drivers. I don't have any problems with them. I've been programming DX10 apps, and it runs it just fine.

The "ATI fanboy club" appears to be either in error here, OR just outright starting up "F.U.D." period... I'd tend to agree as well...
:)
Right now, it appears that the ATI fanboys here & elsewhere, "jumped the gun"... & what about this thread, stating R600 will NOT release this quarter as well:

P.S.=> Can somebody explain this to me? I don't get it... Oh, wait a second, now I do: Look @ the source of THIS thread's story (explains much - the Inquirer strikes again!
They're earning themselves a "dubious reputation" & personally, unless somebody can explain all of this?
The Inquirer's out spreading "F.U.D." yet again (& it's NOT the first time - irresponsible journalism imo on the "Inquirer's" part once again, @ least until somebody can explain this away to myself & others reading!)... apk
A complete moratorium on using the Inquirer as a news source.
