Steam Autumn Sale is Live - Even More Games on sale Than Previous Editions

Steam may be losing some luster in the digital game distribution arena with the quantity and quality of heavy players that have appeared since its inception - I'm looking at GOG and the EPIC Games Store especially. However, Steam continues to be the service that offers the largest library of purchasable titles. As such, if you don't have a backlog of games to play already (don't lie, you do have them, but we won't judge if you buy some more), now is the time to make the jump.

The biggest discount percentage I've seen, so far, is that for Rise of the Tomb Raider, which cuts a total of 85% from its listing price. Discounts range from 20% through to that (apparent) ceiling, with franchises such as the Dark Souls Series (Dark Souls 3 for $15 (75% off), Dark Souls 2 for $9.99 (75% off), and Dark Souls Remastered going for $23.99 (40% off). The Dishonored franchise also sees massive cuts from their list prices, at 70% for the original and 75% for Dishonored 2 and its Death of the Outsider expansion (how I love these games). The Master Chief Collection, however, isn't on sale - it's still in pre order, you know how it is. But maybe one of these days you'll get that one (though it already is a steal at its launch price for the quality of games you're getting). Go on, feast your eyes and murder your wallet. We're cheering for you.

SplinterdogI can honestly say that Steam has never crashed on me in about 14 years of use.
It has to be some other underlying issue surely, OP.
About the same here too, talking about before HL2 was released (2004?).

It has it's issue's though some times more so when games are stopped and thinks the game is still running or steam locks up for a little bit.

Hmmm... might pick up Half Life games too. Any graphics/texture mod out there for them?

Haven't bought on Steam sales as much as I used to for years. Some years ago either Steam or publishers realized that people paid more attention to % off than they did the price. So instead of seeing lots of games dipping under $5, you now see them rarely go under $10. They raise the price of the title but increase the discount %. So you see the same price sale after sale for longer. By the time they drop to sub $10, it's a good few years past what they used to do.

Indeed, HL2 was my introduction to Steam and I remember feeling very annoyed that the DVD only contained half the game, having to download the rest through Steam. I had to take my PC to a friend's house as we didn't have an Internet connection, only GPRS on my phone.
I need to work through my backlog before buying anything in this sale, but then I always say that...

I bought a combination of 38 games and expansions on this Steam sale (older games, only spent $140) and 17 games/expansions from Origin ($10).

No, I have no time to play them all right now but early retirement awaits in 3 years and I will maybe have time..... Maybe...... I hope.

I used to be so hyped for Steam sales but ever since I subscribed to Humble Monthly I rarely look at Steam sales (unless it is something I want) I think I will pull the trigger on the new DLC I think it's called the Shadow and the Beast.
Vayra86Well screw me. I just bought a TW Warhammer 2 DLC ... 50% off on Steam. Rockin' Pirates of the Vamp Coast now, arr
You are going to love that DLC pack. Do you have the RADIOUS mod installed?

No I don't use Radious, I play the game almost vanilla. Most of my mods are graphical, quality of life and no climates influence. Had too many issues with Radious and other conversions and game updates tbh

But yeah I read smth about it and got triggered into impulse buy, Im not trying to catch em all DLC wise, just the factions I fancy. Gonna see what's what now-ish :)

Interesting I have had RADIOUS since SHogun 2 and have not had any real issues. I do agree though that with Warhammer 2 it has been a pain but I cannot play the vanilla game without that mod all of the extra units are calling me. On another note are you like me; I was hyped for 3 Kingdoms and got it I played about 50 to 70 turns (trying to get used to all the differences) and was starting to enjoy the game when my General (Lui Bei) died. I was so pissed I stopped playing the game. I found myself going back to Warhammer 2 and am now 225 turns into a Wood Elves Mortal Empires campaign. I am a little hyped for Troy but it has to have the fantasy element for me to really enjoy it. I guess I have moved on from the traditional Total War historical enjoyment.

Yeah I'm like you. Three Kingdoms was totally not interesting to me. The generals, the abilities they have, their expiry dates... I struggled too. And the battles themselves are just not fun. I found myself waiting for duels to finish long after everything else had been routed... like... why!? The game also fails miserably at capturing that typical 'massive battle' feel, which is another huge missed opportunity. And that is also due to the retinues... 18 units and 3 overboosted heroes. Again...why?

BTW, Vampire Coast... SWEET :D But the early game is a bit of a drag, the units are rather weak. How do you get around that?
kapone32For those differences and a few others I would honestly probably play Shogun 2 again rather than pickup 3K again.
Amen to that, already did so and its better in every way.

That Is why I mentioned Radious they add some nice units to every faction. The Vampire Coast units get some nice buffs with that mod. What is your favourite faction you have played with? I really enjoyed Brettonia and Alith Anur (High Elves).
