Another Month, Another Sale: Steam Lunar New Year Sale Goes Live

Steam today stated another round of sales on their digital storefront. Dubbed the "Lunar New Year" sale, it is being held in celebration of the Chinese new year, with hundreds of games with discounts that can go anywhere from 10% up to 90% off. You can grab TPU's game of the year, Red Dead Redemption 2, with 20% off. Another (this time, personal) suggestion is to try out Disco Elysium. If you like isometric RPGs, this one, for me, takes the gameof the year for 2020 award, with truly incredible writing, and a true RPG experience that isn't bogged down by the need to include a combat system (and its connected writing requirements and such).

Other offerings are Gears V, available 50% off, Frostpunk (60% off), The Witcher III (if you don't already own it, of course, it's 70% off), Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (-35%), and various others - likely more than you have money to purchase even at their discounted rates.

I will have to check this out when I get off work. Apparently they had a Chinese Lunar New Year Steam Sale last year but I don't recall it.

This year the new Lunar Year is the Year of the Rat.

Does Gears 5 run natively on Steam? If so I might grab it I am regretting using the MS Store to play this game.

It can mean either Rat or Mouse in Chinese:

www.chinesefortunecalendar.com/Zodiac/RatOrMouse.htm

From the article:

"Is it Rat or Mouse?
The Chinese word 鼠 can refer to either rat or mouse - there are no distinctive words for them. The illustrations in the Chinese Zodiac scripts depicted a common look of the two, or some look more like rat and others more like mouse. So the English translation “Rat” or “Mouse” is fine either way as both are common unisex nouns. We use “Rat” on this site because it has been widely used for Chinese Zodiac."

Well, that shouldn't take more than a few months for Steam. :p

Your people are starving my lord.

Nice... Lords of the Realm Complete for under $5. I haven't played II in a long time, and didn't even know there was a third. Also picked up the Deus Ex Collection, Quake 4, and The Witcher Trilogy.

Check up Oxygen not Included. It is 15.40€ and it is the most addictive game I've played in a long while.

The only game I picked up on this sale was Colonial Conquest. A TBS game that I played quite a bit on my C-64 back in the mid 80s. It was a lot of fun for me. Maybe I am remembering it through rose-tinted glasses though. In any case I am looking forward to playing it again after so many years.

I still have my physical copy of Lords of the Realm 2, installed it about 6 months back and played it for a while, good game. Love dumping the hot oil out.

I'm kind of surprised Steam did another sale so soon. They feeling the pinch of all the other digital platforms pushing their way on the market?

I prefer old Tropico's "My President! Your people Starve! Grow more food quickly!"
