Warcraft III: Reforged is the World's Worst User-Reviewed Videogame

Blizzard Entertainment recently released Warcraft III: Reforged, their remastered version of the original Warcraft III. The new game saw the inclusion of the original Reign of Chaos campaign and its expansion, the Frozen Throne. This delivered a game with some 60 campaign missions, all with reworked graphics, four hours of updated in-game cutscenes and re-recorded voice-overs, alongside rebalanced online play and the addition of social and matchmaking capabilities. But paint the feature list as one can, the game's Metacritic score definitely isn't what Blizzard drawed it up to be.

The game sits with an aggregate review score of 63/100, which is already on the... very low side for such a game, I'd say. However, that score pales in comparison with the aggregate user review score, which places the game in an almost unfathomable 0.5/10... With close to 22,000 users reviewing the game already. Now, we all know that people are most critical of the things they love the most (and thus expect the most of). Bugs and a feeling of betrayal regarding the games' graphical and cutscene presentation seem to be high on the list of qualms users have with the remastered version, but I think a 0.5 score really is undeserved... I'd say most games with user scores lesser than 8/10 are actually worse experiences than this game, but who am I to judge. There's a comparison video after the break for you to check with critical eyes.

AssimilatorOverwatch is fun and polished, but it's not special or revolutionary or clever. And therein lies the rub, I think: Activision/Blizzard of 2020 is a company with the resources to bring some really grand and innovative artistic/creative visions to life - it just doesn't have anyone left with those kind of ideas. Hence a "new" Call of Duty game every year, hence Diablo on smartphones, hence Overwatch 2, hence Warcraft III remake. They're essentially becoming another EA, in that they turn out the same derivative garbage over and over again until the market is so saturated with their crap that they have to resort to gambling loot boxes to actually make money from vulnerable people.
I pretty much agree with you. Though I do have my hopes for Diablo IV.. Diablo III was ok after all the updates, but nothing even close to Diablo II..

There are no actual devs left at Blizz. They were purged, so expect nothing but a shit show. They'll probably just reskin another game, again

Microtransactions are a no-go thing for me, no matter the game.

There are no 4 hours of reworked cutscenes, get it straight Techpowerup!

Blizzard blatantly lied about the product, presenting cinematic cutscenes with movie-like quality. The end result sports just the same old top-down cutscenes.

I preordered and I've been playing it and I love it so far. I don't know why people are so upset.

Rose tinted glasses syndrome?

No, more like Warcraft refunded promised a ton of things, and delivered on none of them except for the graphics being overhauled which was done by a third party in Malaysia, LemonSky.

The true hatred comes from forcing users of the old game to downgrade to the Battlenet 2.0 client which, as detailed in the imagine below is an embarrassment of a client when compared to the original. This also includes the new EULA which eviscerates the custom games scene by stealing game/idea ownership and forbidding any copyrighted content or "inappropriate" content, which is so badly handled that the map "Booty Bay" is censored.

How about doing just a little research before writing an article on a topic that you know nothing about. Read the complaints before making blanket statements.
