Cyberpunk 2077 will have "GTA Mode"

CD Project RED, the maker behind highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 game has given out some exciting information about the game. In a recent interview with PCGamesN, Max Pears, a designer involved in Cyberpunk 2077 development, has said that the game will have a "Grand Theft Auto (GTA) mode". "If you want to go out on a rampage and have no remorse, then you have got the option, and that's fine with us", said Mr. Pears. "However, once you start to play the missions and see the amount of options you have. I think that will make players stop and think a little bit before doing something reckless.", he adds, "We've seen a lot of people default to that 'GTA mode' and then after a little bit they realize how many things are different and adjust how they play". The game is officially launching on November 19, so we have to wait and see that gameplay.

I interpret their statement less as a "mode" in the game but more of a mode people use. The game is open-world so it seems they're saying "you can do whatever you want" (GTA mode) "or follow the missions". It doesn't seem like a specific mode you activate in the game that enables destructions and disables missions, but that's just my interpretation I guess.

Aleksandar, you misinterpreted the title of the article you blog-spammed. If you go read the actual interview on PCGamesN, it's pretty clear CDPR is just talking about the style that players choose to play the game. The game won't have an option for a "GTA Mode" at all. It's just a playstyle...

what do you mean there's a "GTA Mode" when an open world game is all about exploring what the game has to offer? Isn't that what most games that has massive maps has been doing? It's nothing new btw.

Sounds to me that this is just like Just Cause, in that game you could take over bases before they became missions . Based on the article I see the same thing but it being characters instead of missions like maybe you kill a character that is necessary for a story mission so that mission is cancelled but it doesn't effect the overall story. I have never played GTA so I can't comment on that game.

I got it from Epic and one day I might but Humble Choice has me enthralled right now with Grid 2019 (recent) and Xcom2 plus I have been playing the free Access for Everspace 2 which feels like Darkstar One. with a mix of Elite but at the end of the day some DLC got released for TWWH2 so.

Its the right one. This is some fine non-news, really. I think we can expect this sort of headline going forward until the game releases.

Gotta love media. Tomorrow: Graphics in Cyberpunk will use pixels.
